If a state electricity board in an act of populism fixes electricity price at uneconomical rates,thus going bankrupt,why should everyone else shoulder the burden of ruling party's bill for bribing it's voters?

Heck, wide area transmission grids now span across countries and even large portions of continents, and our yahoos can't transmit to and within comparatively tiny Tamil Nadu? The truth is our bureaucrats, politicians and TNEB honchos are nothing but a bunch of poodle fakers getting fat salaries for doing zilch!

Further, if you're talking about "power transmission losses due to distance", how about Gujarat for example? It is a power surplus state now. With installed generation capacity of over 18,900 Mw from thermal sources alone, Gujarat is the largest power generating state in the country. And, it aims to add 10,000 Mw in the next five years, to touch the 30,000 Mw generation capacity mark by 2017. No "power transmission losses due to distance" there?

And Tamil Nadu? Oh man, it's so embarrassing, I can't even put out the figures here!! It sucks!

Blame the bad policies of state Govts.TN is not alone in this,there are a number of states who faces the similar problem.Most of the state electricity boards are bankrupt and collectively owes a staggering Rs.2 trillion to banks and financial institutions.With such a huge a debt burden how are they gonna buy power from outside let alone invest on new projects.And state Govts are not willing to raise power tariffs due to the populists policies.Tamil Nadu for eg raised its power tariff last month first time in 10 years.Same is the story for many Indian states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and for some extant Punjab.Since these state owned leviathans were technically insolvent – they were borrowing just to pay off the interest on earlier borrowings – and couldn’t even raise working capital.All because of the political interference.Now tell me how are we gonna have 24/7 power if they run these institutions like these.

Read the news very carefully. It says of Arunachal power production potentiality at 50,000 to 90,000MW. Tamil Nadu should wait for a few years with cash money in hand when BD will allow a part of this electricity to pass through its land to Indian national grid in west Bengal. But, do not forget to pay a handsome transit fee to BD. Make your offer sweeter by selling at least 20,000MW Arunachal electricity to BD. We pay in cash.
