India English growth 'too slow'

Useless thread.
Poverty and illiteracy are different issues, But those Indians who are educated can speak English fluently. Same goes for chinese as well. If a kid gets proper education, then no language is difficult to speak. Besides, Obama also commented how the american education needs to be rectified in order to match the caliber of Indian and chinese kids, i guess that tells you the whole story.
Your's are the most populated country, Proper Investment in Health and Education sectors will turn this population into HUGE Assets. :agree:

.
:roflAre you sick? You should check who said that is deesu, not me and his point is some indian who look down upon people who cant speak english is half educated. And what I post is very related to the topic. I seriously think you should see eyes doctor or psychologist.

And what was your reply???

"You got that. That was in Bangalore."

Are you wanna try to say if I said indian speak english, that means I said the other nation doesent speak english again just like you said in the other post.? You are pure troller and dont admit any false made by yourself even in front of a fact. You are a shameless pity man.

we need to accept the reality....
We have that tendency to think that English is a big thing... its not....
I dont say that english is not essential, it is essential because we in india have lot of languages and english has become our common language... this doesn't mean that we should disrespect our languages...
If you are a Bangalorean.... go to any shop in MG road and talk in a local language or in hindi.... see the response of the shop keeper... then try with english and see the response... I hope you understand...
I like the Chinese people because they really are proud of talking in their language...

If you are not a Bangalorean, then come to B'lore and see the problem..

We need to understand that the languages of India are very precious... we should not give up on these...

I got to Bangalore my dear friend. Was there last week too for a couple of days. Was there on MG Road too and also went to Pub World and then also to 14th Floor. I do this every 2 months at least. I think that Bangalore has the least assuming of all people in India. So I will have to disagree with you. For sure, because there is such a cosmopolitan mix of people out there in that lovely city, English is pretty common to use. But you can get by in the Taxis and the hotels and the restaurants and for everything that you want in Hindi too. Very good for me, because I do not know Kannada.

I didnt observed their action. I have been to india many times to teach fresh indian employee japanese and IT, and I asked one of my students that like "your english is very good, do you talk with the other indian with hindi?", he answered me he dont make friend with people who cant speak english, so he always speak enlgish with the other indian. So, I got my point which are quoted by you.

Hmmm.... you seem to be a very well travelled person my dear friend. Teaching Japanese and IT in Bangalore in India !!!!! Great mix of PGs that you took up yourself......

Well probably coming from Japan you might find it strange. I have not been there so cannot comment. But in the few places in China that I go to, they want to make Mandarin a compulsory language all across China to try to build more cohesive culture and are facing difficulties. The impression is that with Mandarin as a cross China language, problems like what happended in Xinxiang will go away. I also agree with that. Common langauge binds people together, though I think that for China it could be most productive to do this with English, but then that will make the people very acutely aware of the media censorship currently in place.

Your logic is very different from me. Is that a taking up? Well, I am a IT man worked in a japanese company and my company send me 3times per year to india to teach indian employee of the subcompany japanese and IT. I dont think it is a taking up? And I cant understand why you consider it is a taking up, is it a taking up in indian thinking?

Have you really been to china? Dont try to fool us, the mandarin has been a language all across china decades ago. Every chinese can speak mandarin, and every chinese can speak their local language like contonese, shanghainese including xinjian, their first language is uighur.
But, at least, chinese is our nation language given by our ancestors, it is different from english to indian, english is not your nation language. And about censorship, chinese are living happy with it, and I didnt feel any inconvenience when I went back to china, just I cant seek pornographic, but I can use proxy.

I can see that we ran in to a langauge problem. I just meant that you chose to master Japanese with IT to teach in India!!!! Took up = subscribed/ chose to learn when you graduated / post graduated (PG)!! In college, we take up/ subscribe to courses.

But not to worry, I will try to explain better now that I realize our diferent takes on the langauge.

Well HK and Macau are SARs but let us see..... if Guangzhou, Shenzen, Shanghai, Nanjing.... are in China then I have for sure been there. Re my comment about the interest of the government making Mandarin compulsory, actually I got to know this when I was with a Chinese friend in Shanghai. We took a taxi to go to the Exhibition Center and there was a problem in communication with the taxi driver for my friend. That is when he explained that the government wants to make Mandarin compulsory..... So you are very wrong when you say that every Chinese can speak Mandarin. Or may be you and me go to different Chinas!!!!!!!

Re the pride in our languages, well we have a lot of pride in them that is why we always ensure to teach our young ones the mother language always depending on whichever part of the country we are from. But no harm in teaching them good English too. Afterall we want to prepare them for the best opportunities in future. Isn't that a good idea my Japanese / IT teacher friend????

You are the cheapest person i have came across you are still adamant.

You are the same person who have said in a thread supporting grey boy 2 that the cow piss soft drink is available in every shop in India and every Indian uses it. And that you have seen it from your eyes as you claims to visit India regularly.

This is more than to prove your rants and troll intentions.

So buzz off.

In India we have loads of language here.... English Accent differs from each part of the country. This thread is not at right place first of all.
We need to have good edu system to improve English.
There r various levels of English proficiency(Commanding , Survival, etc). I speak three languages English at work, Hindi with Friends (from other states), Tamil (mother tongue) in my home.
So difference in the accent is obvious.

.
Well it is similar to the Pakistani Accent now is it not! After it is the subcontinent effect - I have stayed in Canada for more than 4 years so please I know what the reality is and I am PROVIDING YOU WITH A FIRST HAND ACCOUNT!
Hi
First off, it is not about India & Pakistan so it will be highly appreciated if u will lay off that, secondly the purpose was not to show if Indians have strange accents or not, but to answer that guy who was mocking the Chinese for having strange accent but forgetting how the world views them, i think you get my point now( Simpson are pretty famous in world). yes people from Sindh might have accents similar to Indians but not the ones who are from Baluchistan, NWFP, Northern areas or Northern Punjab

Either ways you were supporting the guy so had to give a reply - Further you are noticed when you are seen more and in this case it is because of increasing visibility of Indians around the globe and pretty much they lend the same identity to people of other countries in their region - It is more of a sociological implication....which is what I meant.

So I am not sure why are you taking offence on something which is true. Rest you have your views and I have mine so I guess I don't need to go down deeper into this.

But rest assured if a chinese mocks you and specifically when it comes to english language then I believe it is pretty funny and at the same time shows that many Chinese people don't have logical reasoning ability - given they mock someone over something they themselves are super pathetic at!

Hi,
Dude first go to the first page and see who first brought other nationalities in. It was Indian guy who brought Chinese accent out of the blue in this thread and then some brought Pakistan as well, for heavens sake the poster of the thread is not even a Chinese or a Pakistani. Then why even start discussing them why not Japanese, Russians, Norwegians, dutch, french, Koreans( all of them have pretty weird accents), why maintain traditional rivalries every where? By pointing fingers at Pakistanis and Chinese all the time.

.
funiest part of this thread is . . .Ding dong. .it is 18th century era thread. 1 year old thread. Some 1 bumpd old thread. And ppl startd fighting here. Full of bs. Listen up buddy - I replied to you cos clearly you were not neutral in that post of yours! It was a simple logical conclusion drawn by first hand experience and I shared it with you.

If you had not thrown a jibe like that, I would not have replied. Anyhow, I have made my point clear i.e. it was more about a sociological implication than anything else.

Like I said you are entitled to your views and I won't go beyond this post to explain my actions further!
