India diverting Neelum river
Written by (Author ) Local, Pakistan Feb 20, 2010

Pakistan Indus Water Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah has said that India is set to divert Neelum River at Kishan Ganga but Pakistan will oppose the project at all forums.

He said this while giving briefing during a meeting of Senate’s Standing Committee on Water and Power held with Senator Lashkari Raesani in the chair here on Friday. Jamaat Shah said that Pakistan would move to international mediators against India for construction Kashan Ganga Dam to occupy the water or River Neelum.

He said that Pakistan is also concerned about the Indian attitude as it has built several hydro power projects at River Sindh. India has constructed three mega and eight dam projects at River Chinab and 24 such projects were under consideration. The Indus Water Commissioner said that Baglihar Dam was affecting country’s defence and Pakistan has asked to set telemetry system on the said dam. He said that India wish to construct 54 mini dams on River Jehlum and project of building 10 mini dams on River Sindh is under consideration. Jammat Shah said that Pakistan would move to International mediators if India started Voolar Beraj project.

After Chenab now India diverting Neelum River Water , another Failure of GOP????

It is not the river that is being diverted. Pakistani minds are being diverted from real issues by some vested interests to hide their own deficiencies. Dont blame India. India wont violate IWT. In case it violates go to WB. Dont whine here

If India is indeed doing all that, giving India time will cots Pakistan a lot and something that is irreversible. If Pakistan has to complain, it should have done it yesterday instead of thinking to do it tomorrow.

Please...isn't the water controversy at rest now that Shah Mahmood Qureshi has himself said there is no "water stealing" by India going on and that the major problem is water wastage on Pakistani side?

Nation should start a very strong campaign to up root corrupt leadership and their network.

Kishanganga hydro power project. is being built. Under the Treaty, the country first completing the hydel project on the Neelum river (Ganga river) would automatically gain the priority water rights this is according to Indus water treaty if your goverment cant built a dam in last 63 years why blame India.
