MANAMA: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today said his "sincere efforts" to improve relations with India were not reciprocated by the new Indian Government.

Addressing a gathering of overseas Pakistanis in the capital city of Bahrain, where he is on a two-day official visit, Sharif said India cancelled the Foreign Secretary-level talks last year with Pakistan "on the pretext" of the Pakistani High Commissioner's meeting with Kashmiri separatist leaders, which he said "had been a practice for 60 years."

Underlining that Pakistan desires good relations with all its neighbours, he said, "We made sincere efforts to improve relations with the new government in India, but the efforts were not reciprocated."

On the anti-terrorism operations in Pakistan, Sharif said that terrorism would be eliminated from the country and the Zarb-i-Azb offensive will continue until militancy was crushed, Radio Pakistan reported.

He said the military operation was launched in North Waziristan after exhaustion of the option of talks with militants, which could not succeed because the terrorists were not ready to lay down their arms.

He said the operation has yielded encouraging results with several terrorists killed and several others fled to Afghanistan.

Nawaz Sharif was stupid to go to Modi, the butcher of Godhra, inauguration even after many in Pakistan advised against it. That visit gave Modi more legitimacy then he deserved. Now Nawaz is realizing his mistakes as Modi shows his real colors.

Modi is the Elected Prime Minister of India, one of the largest countries in the Globe, where his decisions affect what over 1 billion people do and interact with the world.

There is no giving 'more legitimacy' or 'less legitimacy' to the Prime Minister of India.

Deep inside, even Nawaz knows it is the Pak army that won't let him make peace with India. Reason 1 is to remain relevant, 2nd, if Nawaz and Modi come up with a solution, old graves will emerge. People will think that Musharraf was troublemaker in past, casting a doubt on army's intentions. Till Nawaz is at the helm better to stay away from him to avoid unnecessary brawls. I think we are pretty much doing that.

Terrorism is the only best efforts and the best foot that pakistan can put forward - you want us to reciprocate you with terrorism Mr. Lame duck prime minister that runs a terrorist organization called Lashkar-e-janghvi ?

Btw, how many Lashkars are there in pakistan in all?

It is another false flag operation by India against Pakistan. It was Indians who orchestrated this drama and blew up that boat and accuse Pakistan.

oh yes, i forget that for pakistanis like you, 9/11 is a conspiracy theory to destroy Muslims. 26/11 is R&AW conspiracy, WoT is CIA-R&AW-musaad-MI5-KGB conspiracy....
there is no surprise that some nuthead like you said that those terror boat send by pakistani military is an indian orchestrated drama...

The Pakistan PM should stop a** kissing these Indians and treat them the way they treat us. Being the good guy doesn't work in that region. The bad guys sponsored by India and other enemies will do everything including killing innocent children to destabilize Pakistan.

yes, Being the good guy doesn't work in that region. it is what indian political leaders have to learn ... every time india try to make a better relation with pakistan, pakistani rulers always try to make problems in india, in 1999, in 2008, and now in 2014, and 2015... pakistan is making problems.. they can't even live without sponsoring terrorism. they can't accept india's rise a global power.

We need a strong foreign policy perhaps even modeled on India. Look at how we screwed up Samjhauta express. The Indians initially blamed LET but the attack was actually conducted by Indian, Hindutvadi terrorists. I was in Lucknow at that time (my town which should have gone to Pakistan) and the Indian media went on a rampage constantly blaming Pakistan.

I even heard people talking about the root of the problem, which was Pakistan.

It is evidence of how Indian media cooks up hate material for Pakistan. If the Indians lied about Samjhauta, they could be lying about Mumbai as well. Conveniant how Karkare, the cop investigating the Samjhauta attacks was one of the first to get killed.

We Pakistanis should produce a strong foreign policy and conduct ourselves in a manner where the countries interests reign supreme. We need to respond to Indian aggression on the border and its violations of ceasefire in the same way as a soveriegn nation does.

LOL, probably plenty..

These names are great fun while having drinks with friends though - someone starts with Boko haram in an arabised accent and others name names of terrorist organizations that comes to their minds - like, lashkar e toiba, laskar e janghvi, harkat ul mujaaddhin, jaish e Mohammed, hizbul tahrir, tehrike taliban, Al badar, Al guraba, al haramein, al nusra, al shabbab, jamat ud dava etc, one gets to imagine the convoluted ugly faces behind these groups while we are at it ...I do better because of pdf.
