India developing high power e-bomb, laser gun

Indian defence scientists are in the process of developing futuristic high power laser weapons, e-bombs as powerful as 1,000 lightning strikes, and computers that can be worn by soldiers.

According to Dr V.K. Saraswat, scientific adviser to the defence minister, who was delivering a lecture on 'strategic electronics' at the inaugural session of the 22nd annual conference of Indian Nuclear Society here on Thursday, work is going on high power laser weapons that could provide India a distinctive defence advantage by numbing the enemy targets.

Since other nations do not share these technologies, India is working on indigenous systems, he said. About the e-bomb, he said it will produce electrical impulses in terawatt range equivalent to 10 to 1000 lightning strikes.

Dr Saraswat said we can now detect even satellites and added research is on to improve the radar detection range from 500 km to about 3000 km.

Work is also going on an array of radars to help scan electronically, battlefield surveillance Doppler radars, wall radars that can see what is hidden behind a structure, and antennas that cannot be seen are also in the pipeline.

“We hope to equip our soldiers with wearable computers providing them night fighting capabilities, health monitoring and personal area communication, besides GIS.

“We are equipped to provide solution to almost every platform, whether ground based or air based,” he said.

Referring to exo-atmospheric kill vehicles, Dr Saraswat pointed out that defence scientists are developing 600-sq km radius satellite systems.

???? what does this mean

???? what does this mean

Our ground based radar capable of tracking satellites. I think LRTR can do that.

So DRDO developing a 3000 km range OTH radar!!! :victory: This is essential for tracking ICBMs and higher altitude satellites.

:cheesy: What does it mean? the reporter ofcourse messed up numbers.

^ These are strategic weapons, there is no need for secrecy with strategic weapons. If nobody knew you had nuclear weapons, would you have a credible nuclear deterrence?

What happened to Swordfish mk2 LRTR with a range of 1500 km ? 1500 km range is also very good but we are talking about just the double. I read the article yesterday and i diin't posted it because it had a lot of fan-boy stuffs...

that means its for anty satalite missiles as well as icbm

i got ur intension behind mentioning century, anyways happy trolling

you know typical midset :pop:

Why always reveal your secrets century earlier than development?

Realtime satellite tracking radars already in place and e-bomb, laser gun for air defence already took shape and final stages of development. so look it is century earlier for those who cannot even dream about having such weapons. about secret, there are some weapons need to be known by the enemy as mentioned by 5ever.

that means its for anty satalite missiles as well as icbm

not just anti-sat but keeping track of space based assets and enemy sat movements.

1500 km range LRTR-2 is coming soon. BTW where do you see the fanboy stuffs? It is directly quoting DRDO chief and we already knew such systems are under development.

I think they should focus more on delivering credible defense systems rather then churning out lofty statements. India desperately needs a reliable bullpup assault rifle, artillery and a point defense fighter. They're way behind the curve on conventional weaponry so I don't understand why they're diverting resources to such 'ambitious' projects. They should spend every last dollar on making sure existing projects meet expectations and more importantly, deadlines. An EMP won't do much good if the airforce is at 2/3rd's of sanctioned force levels. India can double its firepower by simply modernizing its conventional forces to current standards. It makes more sense to acquire high end weaponry (tech. transfer) from allied nations rather than reinvent the wheel.
