No it is still not approved.
Arun Jaitely made a statement that VizagMetro is still under consideration.

But CM Naidu played politics by getting Vijaywada metro approved which has just 8Lakhs population and not getting Vizag metro approved which is APs largest city now and has around 2.5M population.

Yeah that was earlier....when initially naidu pushed as centre only project...which the finance ministry rejected....so naidu changed it ppp model....for which the central govt gave nod for 20% funding!!
Central govt also advised the Vijayawada metro to be extended to neighboring district headquarters!

You mean Guntur town? That comes under Amaravati.
Dont think Vijayawada metro is extended till Eluru (W.G) district HQ.

Yeah it's guntur....initially the proposed project had only 25kms of route.....centre now recommended for 45km routes with 3 lines.
