New route to....

Ever heard of crediting photos correctly? Again, by merely writing, ‘respective owners’, in every other post of yours, you’re not doing justice to the hard work of the original photographers, especially when their names are clearly mentioned and/or easily available. Don’t be lazy as usual.

Anyway, you’ll be banned for your tagging-sickness soon enough. Some people never learn.

Indian highways looking good.

I read somewhere that for India, like other's eg. America and recently Malaysia, one has to switch to full-on road infrastructure use by public and specially private vehicles. For the past 4 yrs. the Modi govt. between Central and State taxes, has earned $ 100/yr. Billion in pooled taxes from oil imports, refining and marketing alone.

The above has less to do with crude oil prices and more with Indian consumption. Earnings aside, sure India saved $ 200 in 4 yrs. Billion at approx. $ 50/yr. but now that oil's going for $ 80 mark; and India going for elections things like infra. roll-out, job creation, economy will be impacted and will dampen.

Earlier Coal block auction, spectrum sale, crude oil savings come up to some $ 300-400 Billion which should see the Modi govt. sweep elections next yr. but ongoing squeeze and if oil stays high for Modi's next term things may turn sour for the party.

2024-25 election can be a jeopardy.

Re: Eastern & Western Peripheral Highways circling New Delhi NCR, at the very least the Eastern part is not only funded by Japan, but Japan's JICA is seeking to turn the surrounding area into another Japan :-).

I don't know about the funding dynamics of the Western part.

Even during the bad old days of the cold war Japan funded bridge and road projects in then New Delhi. Delhi metro was Japan's swansong, then Neemrana Japan industrial cluster, topped by the $ 90 Billion DMIC and then came Modi's Shinkansen Bullet train @ 0.01 % woot :) interest.

Now the above peripheral's and there's already news of real-estate projects in and around the area, see map.

My conclusion is that the Delhi-Mumbai area re: DMIC etc. are going to be Japan's real investment region, basically the relatively sparse Rajasthan-Gujarat anchored Western India.
