India denies medical visa to Pakistani woman seeking cancer treatment

https://www.dawn.com/news/1343814/i...a-to-pakistani-woman-seeking-cancer-treatment

The Indian Embassy rejected the medical visa application of a 25-year-old Pakistani tumour patient who was due to travel to India for treatment, citing deteriorating relations between the two countries as the reason for refusal, the patient's mother told DawnNews on Friday.

Inderprastha Dental College and Hospital (IDCH) in Ghaziabad was to provide surgical treatment to Faiza Tanveer for a recurrent ameloblastoma, a cancerous oral tumour which is aggressive in nature, according to documents acquired byDawnNews.

The hospital had invited Tanveer and her mother Parveen Akhtar to India for treatment, requesting a 20-day medical visa for the duration of their stay in the country, the documents said.

Akhtar said the pair were told by local medical professionals that chemotherapy would be challenging as the target area is a particularly sensitive one, given the close proximity to her ears, nose and eyes.
She should go to China or Europe..if she doesn't have funds, then the pakistani members and ISI plants should sponser her costs..

What is the point of a recommendation letter from Aziz ? Is he a doctor ?
I do not think India is going anywhere with people like Sushma Swaraj

I think this letter was introduced, after few Pakistanis went missing after coming on Medical Visa. From security point of view, its wise, if the Patient is found to be involved in any undesired activity, blame lies squarely at doorstep of Pakistan.

fair enough ...

A reality check for Pakistanis and especially the corrupt government of Pakistan, who are nothing but a bunch of impotent men. They can't even provide basic health services to their people. What a shame!

One thing here I would like to mention that she and I study in the same institute and Allah knows how many times she has personally tried to meet Shahbaz Sharif and other so called leaders just because she belongs to a really poor family and her aunt (her guardian) couldn't afford her treatment. It's a shame that none of these people helped her.

.
The sad reality is that may be there are no advance facilities here , pro indian nawaz has corrupted every institution.

Bro she has already undergone 21 operations here in Pakistan. Her further treatment is not possible here anymore.

Look around in Pakistan, you might find a few world class medical facilities built by anti India Zia or Musharaf!!!!

  • Swaraj hit out at Aziz for not having "the courtesy even to acknowledge" her letter urging a visa be granted to Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife

NEW DELHI: Union minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday used strong words to hit out at Pakistan's foreign affairs head Sartaj Aziz for not having "the courtesy even to acknowledge" her letter to him urging he grant a visa to Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother.

Jadhav is the Indian national on death row in Pakistan.

External affairs minister Swaraj's comments were primarily intended to clear the air after Pakistani media reports last week said that India has refused medical visas to people from that country,

On Twitter, Swaraj as much as said that it's Aziz's fault that Pakistanis in need of urgent medical attention are unable to come to India. She assured Pakistanis that India is happy to grant medical visas and hoped Aziz "has consideration for the nationals of his country".

The external affairs minister pointed to recently-changed rules that stipulate Pakistanis wanting a visa for urgent medical treatment must get a letter from Aziz. "But I assure Pakistan nationals seeking medical visa with a recommendation from Mr.Sartaj Aziz, we will issue the visa immediately," said Swaraj.

Then, Swaraj delivered her coup de grace.

The minister talked about how India too has a visa application pending "for an Indian national Mrs. Avantika Jadhav who wants to meet her son in Pakistan". It takes a beat to realise she's talking about the mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Indian national sentenced to death by a military court in Pakistan.for allegedly "spying".

Swaraj said just like the letters Aziz must write for the medical visas, she, too wrote a "personal letter" to him for the grant of Avantika Jadhav's visa.

"However, Mr. Aziz has not shown the courtesy even to acknowledge my letter," she said.

Kudos to Mrs. Swaraj for her transparency about the situation. Sadly, Pakistan does not care for it's own citizens even to write a letter of recommendation for a medical visa. What happened to their ... Read MoreColdFlak
Pakistani media reported last week that the Indian embassy in Pakistan rejected the visa application of a woman suffering from cancer who was to come to India for treatment. The woman, Faiza Tanveer, in several tweets over the past couple of days, urged Swaraj to intervene. It appears Swaraj has.

We haven't denied visa. You just need a recommendation letter from Advisor Sartaz Aziz to EAM Smt. Sushma Swaraj. Visa will be issued.

I hope and wish medical visas must be above politics!!!

.
After proper background checks have been made the visa should be issued if the hospital says it has capacity and resource.

A cancer patient cannot influence foreign policy.

This makes me sad

That's exactly right, having medical condition does not preclude you from being subject the law.

India is full within is right adjust its foreign policy as it sees fit, and deny or permit entry as it sees fit.

.
dont you guys think its a bit embarrassing for pakistanis to go to india for treatment?

.
thats for doctors not consular officials.

Consular officials go by the rule book as they dont want to get the stick if some thing goes ring. Only a minister or top official will have the overriding powers.

That's some crap you say before they let you enter into your professional body. Its not binding on consular officials or doctors.

No one is saying India is bound to accept every visa request
