New Delhi: India’s premier Defence Research establishment DRDO has created a new 60 – 170 km Pragati Missile System. Short range solid fuel Pragati Missile is battle field tactical missile system capable of neutralizing identified targets and providing an effective counter force weapon system. It has all weather Day and Night operational launch capability. The missile has quick reaction from command to launch in ripple firing mode of less than 5 sec from same launcher. The missile is capable of carrying various types of conventional warhead of approx. 200 Kgs. The missile system has capability of deployment in stand-alone mode or centralised mode. Physical dimensions are 0.42 m diameter and 7.4 meter length.

Pragati missile has integrated onboard avionics system to reduce the size. it uses Jet-vanes based Thrust Vector Control (TVC) during the boost phase. Another important characteristics of the missile is use of Aero-Dynamic Control (ADC) using electromechanical actuator (EMA) system for the remaining flight trajectory.

With a state of art RLG based Inertial Navigation System aided by Satellite Navigation, Pragati Missile boasts of a precision accuracy of CEP < 20 meters. The missile has a maximum velocity of 4 M and a total flight time of 120 – 360 seconds.

The missile system has quick deployment with salvo firing capability. The system includes One Battery Control Center (BCC) command & Control four launchers via Fiber Optic/LOS wireless link.

The Mobile Launcher System (MLS) is configured on High Mobility Vehicle (HMV) 12×12, 8×8, & 6×6, for six, four and two canisterised missiles respectively. The MLS is an all electro-mechanical auto leveling and articulation system for easy deployment and maintenance free operation. MSL is configured on the state of art computer based launcher control system for automatic operation powered through dedicated on board DG sets or PTO. The first ever public display of Pragati Missile system will be at Exhibition ADEX-2013 scheduled to be held at KINTEX, Seoul, South Korea from 29 Oct – 3 Nov 2013.

Wow....... where did it came from? Rabbit out of magicians hat........

When did the testing happened? Too much secrecy......

Where the devil did this missile system pop out from? Never did hear of this one before!!

great news....wat is the difference between it and prahaar missile?

is it not the same as next version of prahaar which was being developed??

looks good but i think its CEP should be improved a bit.

Overall i believe it might be a more cost effective solution than Prahaar missile which has very high accuracy.

This missile might actually have been derived Prahaar by improving its range n speed by loosing its high accuracy(which was actually not needed).

the physical dimensions n payload r same as Prahaar.

This missile is definitely derived from Prahaar. This might also explain why they didn't needed(or disclosed) about its earlier tests.

But i like this secrecy...:)

Good to see the evolutiona of the missiles so fast.
With more experience will be able to complete the other projects fast. Like PinakaII, Astra.

I doubt its a new missile, probably export name for Prahaar Missile System.

It will be on display in ADEX 2013, Korea.

Its just a export and variant of Prahaar missile.

Its our good old Prahar,i guess.

By the way, isn't the image in the opening post a PS?@Kurup?

It is an export version of Prahaar ! It is not an evolved prahaar !

When u say prahaar is quick reaction that's because it's max velocity is ~7-8 Mach which it can attain very quickly.. It's a derivative of Surface to Air AAD.

Now this pragati is also a quick reaction but it's MAX velocity is 4M only. The range being same, with decent enough accuracy, India is looking at exporting these missiles to Vietnam and Phillipines and african countries like Namibia etc IMO.

It would be helpful if someone throw light on the existing missiles possessed by above countries ^

So dose that mean that India too taking the rout of western nation to export water down versions?

Now mass produce them and direct 100 on each cities of Pakistan like Rawalpindi, Islamabad , Karachi ,Faislabad , Multan, Lahore ,Larkana and Bhawlapur. All are in range.
Why don't we point them to your behind. This war mongering and derailing is not required. We can't afford or require a war. And why point at civilian dear armchair warrior.

As for the export version it seems to be good sign for drdo who we always thought of underachievers. They are proving some steel after all.
