According to the Russian press agency website Sputnik, India, which is the main importer of Russian weaponry, will probably be the first foreign buyer of the new Russian-made main battle tank T-14 Armata.

Russia has unveiled its new-generation of local-made main battle tank called Armata T-14 during the World War Two Victory Day celebrations on May 9, 2015.

Russia plans to bring in about 2,300 Armatas, starting in 2020, to replace Soviet-made tanks as the T-72 and the T-90.

The key feature of the T-14 Armata is its unmanned turret, with all three crew members (commander, gunner, driver) seated in a crew capsule at the front of the vehicle's hull. The main armament consists of one 125mm 2A82A main gun and one remotely-operated weapon station armed with one 7,62mm machine gun.

The T-14 Armata is protected with steel passive and reactive armour and bar armour at the rear of the hull. To increase protection against modern anti-tank rockets and missiles, the T-14 Armat is fitted with the Afghanit Active Protection System which is able to launch counter-measures and create smoke screen to defeat guided missiles or RPG rockets.

Russia’s new T-14 Armata tank is going to get an even more powerful armament, as the next version of the main battle tank will be armed with previously rumored 152mm gun, revealed the official in charge of the defense industry.

Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin told Izvestia newspaper that next-stage Armata tanks will be supplied with already-developed big bore cannon and brand new projectiles.

NO - We Wont - as simple as that - go for MBT Arjun Mark II instead which has already cleared all user trials with the Indian Army successfully - 118 MBT's have already been ordered - 124 are bing pushed along with indigenously developed CLGM. FMBT is on the cards for replacing T-72's.

Indian MoD to Push for 124 More MBT Arjun Mark II - DRDO's CLGM to replace Israeli LAHAT Missile!

WTF? What's happening to FMBT/ NGMBT?

It isn't a credible source - all through the MMRCA negotiations no other news outlet was as active as this one with all sorts of bluff articles - and we know the reason why.

No But I think Armanta might be inducted in large numbers along with FMBT. Armanta is the best armor around, so there must be place for it.

.
Once T 90 production ends and T 72 tanks become due for replacement
we can look at Armata

. .
And make our armoured corps a zoo.

Naaa, T 72s should be on their way out. FMBT is at least 10 years out, so large fleets will get retired as first the Armata and then the FMBT several years later enter.

After T-90 saga I don't think Modi would be moron to buy another tank.
Currently aT-72 are in upgradation which would serve 15 years more & HVF are also churning out T-90 .
Future fleet would be Arjun MKI & MKII, T-90 & FMBT

Which T 90 problem are you referring to exactly?

Which T 90 problem are you referring to exactly?
They denied ToT of key systems including gun, missile, APS, armour charge heavy on ammunition.
You can say they sell monkey model of T-90 (Thanks to our corrupt Generals, bureaucrats & politicians )
Evil moron DRDO upgrade it with kanchan armour, upgraded t-72 gun (inferior to original t-90 gun), AC etc.
