India closer to developing its own space shuttle

That treaty would only prohibit stationing of weapons in outer space, pretty much like Outer space treaty does. A Space shuttle carrying satellite killing missiles would be counted same as an anti satellite missile launched from ground ,as in case of space shuttles ,like missiles, there is no permanent stationing of weapons in outer space.

Shuttle goes to space, right?. Carries weapons, right?. Now, if it carries weapons to space it is the same as stationing weapons, not ant-satellite missiles. It's a flipping space shuttle not a missile. Definition of missile in a modern day warfare is this:
a weapon that is self-propelled or directed by remote control, carrying conventional or nuclear explosive.

Weaponization of space means this: Space weaponization is generally understood to refer to the placement in orbit of space-based devices that have a destructive capacity. A shuttle falls in that category, sorry. Don't blame me, blame U.N, stick to missiles launched from earth do destroy satellites, or ram a shuttle into a satellite.

Launching a shuttle isn't like in movies, you have to keep it in orbit for like 20-30 hours to get a proper stability so yes it is a long time, but that's not the matter, the matter is that once a shuttle enters the orbit, which it has to, it is called being placed into orbit would mean a direct violation of the treaty.

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation is developing its maiden reusable space shuttle which will be test-launched towards the second half of July.

"It is going to be an important engineering experiment for the Indian space agency. A small aeroplane-shaped vehicle would be launched from here sometime during the second half of July," M Y S Prasad, director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) told IANS over phone from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

The 1.5 tonne space vehicle/ space shuttle, officially known as the reusable launch vehicle (RLV-TD) is developed to reduce the cost of access to space. As currently, the cost of placing 1kg of object in space is about $5,000 (Rs. 3 lakhs approx.), which scientists are hoping can be brought down to about $500 (Rs. 30,000).

Initially used for an unmanned shuttle, the spacecraft will be carried by a single solid rocket booster with nine tonnes of propellants programmed to fly to a height of 70 kms after which it will descend back to earth and land safely in the Bay of Bengal.

"The descent speed would be controlled through the fins on the machine. In order to protect the equipment from friction heat when it comes back, necessary protective tiles are fixed," an ISRO official told IANS.

Though there are no plans of recovering it yet. But ISRO ultimately plans to develop a technology to land the shuttle on a runway.

As far as ISRO is concerned, our space program is far more mature compared to aviation industry.

Please remember that unlike military aviation, India didnot have much choice in space exploration and whatever we have achieved till date is primarily owing to domestic efforts supported at some critical junctures by Russia.
Today PSLV is one of the most successful satellite launcher not to mention per unit kg payload wise one of the cheapest.

Last Year during GSLV Mk 3 launch, Crew Module Atmospheric Re-entry Experiment (CARE) was successfully tested and demonstrated that indigenous design and engineered technology for re-entry vehicles is in our grasp.

It therefore is no hyperbole that India is in a far better position to develop spacecraft technologies than several other nations.
There is no reason to believe why such a technology cannot be developed in India.

This is called Rocket science and it is noting to do with aeronautics and aerospace. Building a Space Shuttle is more like combination of both but it is 70%(aerospace) /30% rocket science.

Sorry but i am back with very valid questions and i am not like Indian who butt is always hurt in the name of Pakistan:cheers:. I might be not login daily b/c of my assignments in my job and i came home very late but when ever i got time i will ready for your bullshits. For rest of mt Indian friends we can discussed these things in proper manner with proper logic

You are right that Space shuttles are a costly technology, but at the same time these are proven too. NASA conducted large number of missions successfully with them. But as is with normal aircrafts too, the brunt borne by the structure during exit and entry of earth's atmosphere is quite taxing and as a result the life of the crafts is limited and require quite a bit of maintenance before taking up a mission.

It will be only good for experiments, where as Russians are doing better with their Soyuz
