Beijing: India and China, both emerging countries, should become "inseparable strategic partners" overcoming the "deep scars" inflicted by the 1962 war and should make its 50th anniversary a starting point for a promising bilateral cooperation, state-run media said on Wednesday.

"Famous Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore used to describe China as a brother country. (Jawarharlal) Nehru encouraged people to sing "Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai," a write-up in Global Times on the 50th anniversary of the war, one of the few that appeared in the Chinese media on the event said.

"Unfortunately, the war in 1962 greatly affected the friendly relationship between the two countries, and the relationship didn't pick up until decades later. Friendly relationship between countries needs careful cultivation. But once destroyed, it takes a great deal of time and energy to restore it," it said.

While this year marked the 50th anniversary of the war it also the "Year of China-India Friendship and Cooperation" announced by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, "a move delivering a clear signal that both countries would like to hide the deep scars brought by the historical conflict", it said.

"Despite the unpleasant history and development gap between China and India, both have a profound culture and diplomatic wisdom. As newly emerging countries, they hold similar stances in issues such as the global order, economic development and climate change.

"The two should become inseparable strategic partners," it said.

The article also at length dwelt about how India influenced China for centuries with the entry of Buddhism, which it said contributed to the unification of China.

"The civilisation of both China and India originated from the Himalayas and the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. And there was no conflict during their historical change that last thousands of years".

"Sages brought India's ancient culture to China. After the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), China faced collapse. Buddhism contributed greatly to China's unification. Today Indians have to come to China for documents if they want to know their cultural past," it said.

"Both China and India are emerging countries in the current international arena, and they face challenges from the outside world. The population of both countries together makes up 40 per cent of the world's total. Their prosperity will benefit the whole world," it said.

"The border issues, historical problems and trade frictions are only a small part of Sino-Indian relations," it said adding that the anniversary of the 1962 China-India conflict should become a starting point for the promising cooperation between the two countries.

`India, China should become inseparable partners`

This is getting odder by the day :undecided:

Good Idea, as the OP is in illusion...:D

the way india back stab every neibour to apease americans its not possible in reallity.

Completely support that. Although a few hapless blokes across the border on the west would like the opposite, this is inevitable. With China and India's growth, cooperation will make Asia unbeatable! Almost 40% of the world will live in India and China by 2050. Cooperation is the key to bring regional stability, peace and prosperity!! :yahoo:

Wouldn't it be nice if we were model neighbors like Pakistan is to its neighbors? Just ask India, Afghanistan and Iran how they love being neighbors of the most peace-loving nation on the planet.

And now for the Indian side of the news:

:P

Anyway, any and all cooperation between nations should be welcomed.

Development doesn't happen in a vacuum, nations (especially developing ones) need to work together to ensure both regional stability and peaceful development.

Bhagwat is a RSS goon. He is not a politician. He is just a Hindu extremist, wearing shorts at 70 years of age

The Earth has limited resources and both India and China are on a trajectory of growth to substantially increase the living standard of their population. At times, they will be at each other's throats to exploit those resources and at other times, they will exploit them jointly. For all the rabble rousing on PDF - India - China are not going to go to war. They have chosen a different path for development and today China is miles ahead of India. So be it.

There are lot of inter - partnerships between Indian and Chinese energy companies for exploiting energy requirements. We can go in together to negate opposition.

As long as India return those territories disputed to China....

We welcome your partnership and hope it brings peace to the region.

Those things will be put on the backburner, and those areas that are disputed wont be handed over.

The cooperation however will continue. 1962 was a short conflict that happened half a century ago. Today priorities for both countries have changed, and our goals are aligned - towards development.
