I saw it written as "Hsuan" which makes partial sense. Since it sounds a bit like Xuan.

But "Hiuen", never seen that before.

hmm... its spoken like this only here.... even i read the same spelling in my history book... its just a dialectic difference i guess... like when u go some place, people give u a pet name so, that they dont hv to go through ur difficult name each time... so may be indian gave him a name...lol..

Never mind.

Anyway, it is close enough so that any Chinese person will know who you are talking about, and that's all that matters really.

An "x" sound in Standard Chinese is sort of like halfway between an "s" and an "sh" sound in English. I don't know if any other languages have this sound.
