India cash crunch sparks diplomatic row between Islamabad, New Delhi

Nope. Pakistanis have never reached the astronomical level of butthurt, Hindus have over 1000 years of Muslim rule. You wont hear us crying about what happened 300 years ago, while every Hindu wants to tell us about his chacha's favorite monkey/elephant/three-hundred-armed-transgender-lion idol was destroyed by a Muslim. The 1000-year effect doesn't apply.

I'm sure all the Chauhan's, Chowdhury 's, Rao's, Randhawa's, Bhajwa's, Rana's etc, etc. in Pakistan might be thinking as well.

Why are you still keep these historic Hindu names behind your names ?? Ever thought ?? :p:

Now we are drifting off topic. Please only quote me if you want to discuss anything on topic. :)

No, they have not, Take it to the RBI, and produce a receipt of the transaction, they can have it changed for concurrent notes! please stop dramatising things all the time.

For foreign nationals all that is required is the passport, they won't be questioned on receipt also, I was there for a few days travelling from Aus I got my old notes changed no questions asked 10k rupees, I just showed my AUS passport and flight tickets.

I'm pretty sure there will be a cap under which no receipt or documentation besides travel details (Passport Visa stamp) would be needed.

Kya yaar. Don't you feel embarrassed that you are representing your nation here? Forget us Indians. But in front of a cross section of nationalities?

Indians are pretty much hated by every nationality on this website for the unparalleled amount of space between their dark ears. I can always be assured there's a foul-mouthed ganga dweller outdoing me. So not concerned at all.

It's a name lmao. We're not praying to a carving of a blue man copulating with a gorilla or anything. I don't see why you're equating the two.

I opted to have it transferred to my NRO account with Kotak, Which then can be dispensed at my own convenience. But my mate who was travelling with me, I spoke to the manager that we need this for a trek. There will be no Atm's available and we need cash in Uttarakhand. He spoke to a senior official and he cleared it to be dispensed, they were just happy the amount did not exceed 10k and also it will be spent for everyday expenses, so the notes will be going back in circulation.

Where did you trek? Or was that a shutri?

RBI where?

Are you saying that my friends ought to come all the way to India just to change the old notes for the new ones?

Can they do this where they are: Shanghai?

I am certain many foreign nationals hold the old notes for one reason or another. Can they have their notes changed for the new ones where they live?

We are not black kafir,we do not worship of many gods
It is the methods of Uncivilised people.

The only thing that is uncivilised is you, my friend. Remember your just a spec of sand on the ocean floor. mere start dust in this cosmos.

Let me show you how insignificant you are, look at this picture that little Pale Blue DoT and the read the below.

Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken on February 14, 1990, by the Voyager 1 space probe from a record distance of about 6 billion kilometres (3.7 billion miles, 40.5 AU). A damn good read!

"We succeeded in taking that picture, and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there – on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.

To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known"

— Carl Sagan, speech at Cornell University, October 13, 1994

Now stop spewing venom and peace out!

You lost him at the seond line. He's still on the blue man copulating with gorilla.

Embassy. Or his own bank. HSBC?

Embassy? Are you sure? Since when Indian Embassy has turned itself into a bank?

And in order to change for the new notes, a guy living in Shanghai has to catch a plane and fly 3 hours to Beijing?

Do you seriouly expect this money-changing biz to be allowed by the local regularoty authority?

His own bank? I am not aware of ANY Chinese banks where you can

As a matter of fact, Chinese banks don't hold Indian Rs

HSBC? Are you sure? And How many HSBC branches are there in China? 5? 10?
