India can emerge as third largest aviation market by 2029: ACI - The Economic Times

HYDERABAD: India has come a long way over the last five years in terms of aviation growth, considerably improving its ranking and with right policies in place, it could emerge as the third largest aviation market by 2029, according to Airports Council International (ACI).

"India improved its ranking from 101st in 2007 to 12th in 2010 in terms of airport maintenance, traffic handling and passenger facilities and is expected to be the third largest aviation market by 2029," Rafael Echevarne, Director, Economics and Programme Development, Airports Council International said at the India Aviation-2012 meet here today.

He, however, said India would require to put in place a regulatory framework that encourages investment, ensures safety and facilitates development of tourism.

Meanwhile, groundwork done by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in consultation with the industry stakeholders towards a National Aviation Policy was appreciated by the industry captains at today's meet.

Amber Dubey, Director Aviation, KPMG, which is the knowledge partner of India Aviation 2012, said initiatives such as formulating an Air Cargo Promotion Policy, proposal to set up a full-fledged aviation university, investments in MRO hubs are positive steps taken by the Government.

He, however, felt that there is an urgent need to develop no-frill airports in tier two and three cities in keeping with increase in air passengers in the country.

Nasim Zaidi, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation released two reports on aviation industry titled 'India: The Emerging Aviation Hub' by KPMG and 'Economic Benefits from Air Transport in India' by Oxford Economics.

i know atleast 40 brand new airports have been built in india in just last 5 yrs. more than 50 billions have been invested. 101 to 12 thats a dam improvement. we are now competing with the developed countries.

. .
101to 12th, its a huge achievement. :yahoo:

with something like 40 brand new airports and terminals and connecting highways in just 3 yrs. it was inevitable and not we r competing with developed nations. :yahoo:

i think our govt is again acting lazy and being stupid. india already has 400+ orders with boeing and aribus and other companies. billions of dollars are being paid to them.

rta 70 is the only program in country with is only 90 seater max. and will only fly nxt year. there is fuckiiing need right now to start indian program to develop planes of 200, 250 and 300 seats. all those billions will remain in the country and hal will be competing with aribus and boeing in a decade as india has requirement of 1500 plane by 2022.

this chance cant be missed at any cost.

. . . .
Massive airport renovation and many new airports are currently being carried out in india..no wonder we managed such a jump in just 5 years..

being a large market is meaningless. it just means more money taken away from indians and given to the already rich. in fact air travel is theft against the poor of india.

Chinese have contradicting opinions against India. If India does not develop its aviation sector, they say that Indians can not even afford to fly; If we develop, then they say that it is theft against the poor. AMAZING !!

if its a theft then what do u recommend?? should we close down all airports and ban all flights and start using bullock carts for travel.

same thing for china buddy as china is also buying all its planes from america and europe and a few airlines are dominating ur market..
and ur thinking is just as small as ur brain..ofcourse. by increasing air travel will prompt india to develop better airports and highways. nearly 50 new airports have been built in last 4 yrs with over 40-50 billion invested in this field. our raking shot up from 101 to 12 in 4 yrs. we had no airport in top 100 in 2007. i remember seeing on a news channel ridiculing the govt abt the condition airports. today 3/10 top are indian. i really dont know what china's ranking is.

new aeroparks are being built and finally it has promted the govt to make our own planes as soon as possible. 90-100 seater rta 70 will fly in 2013. and more larger planes will be built as india has a requirement of 1500 planes in future.

i have no better way to explain u sorry if i was harsh. i know u will come back with another stupid reply but i wont mind as i know this is ur only source of earning.

in fact air travel is theft against the poor of india.- fair and unbiased.

you know something Chinaman, each airport employs thousand of Indians, giving them employment. each airline employs thousands of people , more employment. then there are cab drivers, shops and restaurants that benefit.

what you need is some powdered up rhinoceros horn to go with your gongbao jiding and get that grey matter going.
yea they are hypocrites..either way they have a problem. we have no business to listen to them
