First you question the calculation, and now the equation. What are you up to?
Yes, the expenditure is very much justified.
You had presented yourself with GDP figures alongwith share of Defence expenditure of GDP of India and Pakistan like below.
India GDP-$873 Billions-2006
Pakistan GDP $127 Billion- 2006
India defence budget
India- $21.3 Billions 2007= 2.43% of GDP
Pakistan-$4.8 Billions 2006=3.77% of GDP
I failed to understood How does GDP of Pakistan come into a picture? What exactly does it depicts in parallel to Tank Expenditure of Indian Army?
Regarding Indian Defence expenditure as percentage of GDP, Defence expenditure alloted according to every branch of our Armed forces like NAVY,IAF and IA.
Having a huge amt of GDP does not mean we can overcome each and every expenditure in relation to weapons precisely. Defence budget allotted to army is fixed and projected. IA allot each pie of it defence budget according to the weapon system that they operate. I mean, suppose IA has allotted defence Budget of $ 100 Million for 2007. Each pie of this $100 million will be allotted to service, maintenance and procurement of weapon system, R&D and Management Expenditure needed for the army. This means hypothetically suppose $25 million is allotted to Servicing and Maintenance of existing weapons system, $25 million to procurement of new weapon system, $25 million to R & D of weapons system and $25 million for Salary and administrative expenses of IA HQ. So this mean suppose if there is unexpected hike in maintenance of Tank on account of increases in oil prices and which exceed $25 million of pie of budge according to the above financial projections, so IA would not able to fulfill its expenditure in association with Maintenance properly and IA will have to experience deficit in fulfilling it Maintenance needs. This means IA would not be able to claim pie of budget that is allotted to its other needs like for e.g Procurement, R&D and Adminitstrive and Management expenses to fulfill its Tank Maintenance needs. Even if IA does claim pie of all other defence expenditures to fulfill its Tank related expenditure, it will have to sustain deficit in fulfilling all other its expenses.
Exactly this what highlighted in addition posted above regarding hike in expenditure of Oil for Tanks.
Indian Military has top grade defence analysts who decide the requirements based on the threat perception, and you cannot call it waste. Do you think that the Indian military establishment is a pack of fools to place an order for 1000 T-90 tanks. Point is, we are spending far less than our adversaries in terms of GDP, how do you call it a waste?. If we spend less towards development and allot more money for defence, then it would be waste. But this is well within the budget.
Where did I mentioned anything about Waste and credibility of Indian military Establishement? Pls read my previous post correctly before fuming your anger.
Ofcourse, do you really want me to explain you this? Who would fight an enemy, when he knows that enemy is far well equiped. Would you fight a man with a gun, when you have only a knife. Most people won't.[Just to explain you]. When the fear factor comes in, performance is limited.
If you look from the other side, better equipment definetly boosts the confidence of a soldier.
Please stop arguing just for the sake of it.
In past wars of 1947,1965,1971 and Kargil war of 1999, Pakistan knew about our supremacy and advantage in India’s favour both in terms of Military and Economic object, then only they dare to proceed for misadventure against India. Having Quality and huge quantities of weapons does’nt translate into psychological advantage.
