India becomes world's 5th largest economy, overtakes UK, France

.
Indus and the Wick can mock but every Pakistani general and politician would sell his whole family to become the 5th largest economy .

What it offers is the ability to shape the vast home market which all countries including Luxembourg would envy. It also allows purchase of large capital intensive items like the s400 and rafale jets which all here seem to envy

Not if we had a population of over 1.4 billion as opposed to the Pakistani population of just 202 million..............:azn:..............besides most Pakistani Generals just care about neutering threats from nations who are nearly 8x bigger than us which they do successfully..........not bothered about anything else.................:azn:

The prediction is made by CEBR 10 years ago and it comes true exactly at the same year. CEBR also predict Bangladesh economy to reach 1 trillion dollar GDP in 2034. So look like the prediction have quite credibility although the sample is only India for this time.

By the time india becomes the 3rd or 2nd largest economy of the world, their population will be over 2 billion which will cause an apocalypse that NO ECONOMY in the world can resolve. Their economy will become null and void.

.
Yah uncontrolled reproduction and the burgeoning scam call centre industry would inevitably result in this sort of thing.

Good news. South Asia is making great progress. Interesting fact: did people know Pakistan's economy is larger then the most prosperous country on earth, Luxembourg with a GDP per capita of $113,000.

Luxembourg

GDP (nominal) 2019 estimate

$69.453 billion[3] (69th)
• Per capita

$113,196[3] (1st)

Pakistan.

GDP (nominal) 2019 estimate
• Total
$284.2 billion[15] (42nd)
• Per capita
$1,388[15] (148th)

Of course one Luxembourger earns more than 100 Pakistani's but hey who cares. Pakistan can gloat over the fact that it has bigger economy then the wealthiest country on earth. So can India. Now both can masturbate over "big, big" while being fcukin starving.
There are three kinds of lies.
Lies, damned lies and statistics.

No offence meant but this last line ruined your otherwise great post.
Disagree.
His post was dripping in irony and illustrated the desperation of pdf posters desperate to grab any crumb of comfort from desperately bad situations in both countries.
His last line puts into perspective the true situations of both Pakistan and India.
Both countries "gaand mein dumm nahin"...

Using fudged numbers? Or the reality on the ground? I am not denying India has made progress from what was abysmal state of affairs. But that is not saying much. There is no "economic wall" between India and Pakistan where millions look across with desire at the riches across in India like there used to be in the Iron Curtain in Europe or Hong Kong and mainstream PRC back in 1970s.

It's the same shit, only in greater quantities i India .... now go and take refuge in the 'numbers'.

Fact: India is home to the largest numbers of humanity living in abject poverty making Africa look like land of aplenty.

Yes. By pumping out per capita productivity. Not by pumping out billions of babies. 1.4 billion to be exact.

And I am not mocking. I included Pakistan in this as well. The targets should be per capita. Not GDP. All that does is gives politicians brag rights when ordinary masses drown in poverty.

Millions of Pakistanis fleeing across the Wagah border that would show India as a economic success but so far no

.
Pros
1. Better bargaining power.
2. A larger population can attract plenty of industries.
3. A potential for developing a massive middle class.
4. Rest of the world gets more consumers, which is good for their businesses.

Cons
1. Difficult to provide adequate public infrastructure for such a humongous population.
2. Cities and natural resources will be stressed.
3. Pollution.
4. People below the middle classes will have a miserable existence, unless we go all out in educating, skilling and providing for them.

Lastly, Indian population growth rate is at/below the replacement level. It will stabilise around current levels soon.

They say "lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." And I can't think of better example then South Asia. I am convinced that the figures we get for Pakistan and India are fudged. Over the previous months I have yaken to enjoying youtube travel Vlogs in the evenings which replaced me watching crime series. Got sick of murder, rape and police investigations. Having watched lots of them from multitude of uploaders from across the world that give on the ground experiance of life on streets of India I conclude that the reality - India is probably slighter poorer then Pakistan. No amount of fudging can hide the reality on the ground.

The best example is watching vlogs of travellers driving from Indian Punjab but Pak Punjab across the Wagah border. Indian Punjab is one of the wealthiest states in India. Yet there appears to be no real economic differance between the Pak side and India side other than the marked increase in beggers and man pulled rickshaws on the Indian side.

Now go enjoy your numbers ......

India and Pakistan are just stagnant or sub par regional powers to the rest of the world they are bunch of annoying cry babies to sell arms too again I am not a peacenik but that's the reality

The bottom line is most Paks and Indians would give their right and left testicles to be a Luxembourg citizen rather than big Pakistan and big, bigger, biggest, biggifest India.

Some Pakistani crack pot vlogger Turkey announces dual citizenship Millions of Viewers and folks interested in moving to Turkey

Some Indian crackpot vlogger UAE announces more work permits millions of viewers and Indians wanting to move

When Karachi's populations shrinks and millions of 'reverts' go on hijra to land of their ancestors we all will know mother India is indeed shining. Until then despair. Frankly I would have lost my punching bag.

Mmmm ......

They only do hijra do Dubai to do business dealings with the Ganghus

And you know Bangla is doing well when all thev fish eaters in Karachi rickshaw themselves back Bang. And you know Pakistan is doing well when likes of me retire to PK.

You know when Pak is going well is when our passports would be useful for travel and the immigration officer smiles at you everywhere

. .
You talked about travel vlogs on both sides of the border. Open a thread of foreign vloggers covering both the nations. One can see both nations through the lens of unbiased sources.

Well at least many of them break the bubble of "Incredible India"

You do it. Your going to call mine cherry picked. From the many I have seen I draw the conclusion there is not much to differantiate both sides of Wagah other than more beggers ands men pulling rickshaws on Indian side. Also more presence of females in public spaces is visible east of Wagah.

GDP per capita of Indian punjab is higher than Pakistani punjab and their population growth is also lower our punjab.
This again goes back to fudging numbers. Even if it, it is not palpable. If my salary is £50k and yours is £55k you think it's going to make any real differance in our living standards? The differances are negligible and within 3 years could flip in other direction. However Iran, Turkey indeed have tangible GDP per capita differance over Pakistan. All you have to do is see Tehran or Istanbul. Or even cross the Iranian border. But you might notice Turks or Iranians don't come here showing off their knobs in centimetres.
