India is trying to appease and please BD. In case of a war with China, if China succeeds in choking Siliguri Corridor, then Indian forces, trapped in North-Eastern states, would need to retreat through Bangladesh. This is called contingency planning.

They will be doing that quite fast as we suspect. Knowing that - we have built very nice 4 lane highways for this exact purpose.

Bold Part: From the Siliguri to Chinese land in the north about 200 km away is not a flat land that the Chinese military will just push in to capture. The Chinese territory is 2500 m above Sea Level from where it is just not possible to come down to Siliguri.

Please note that the contested land is the Arunachal Province (NEFA) of the Indian NE. It is difficult for India to move troops and ammunition through the Siliguri corridor to its NE at the outbreak of war.

This is why India needs BD neutrality or outright help when India moves its troops and logistics to the NE in time of a war. If BA troops inhibits IA troops from moving through the Siliguri corridor, it helps China. If it allows IA troop movements, it disturbs China.

In the case of adversity from BD, IA troops have to fight its way through BD land. This proposition is not very attractive to India. During the time IA troops fight the BA troops, the PLA troops will enter the Arunachal.

This is why BD has become important for both China and India. I personally wish no breakout of wars if BD strictly adheres to its neutrality. Both China and India will find it difficult to wage wars in the Arunachal Province (NEFA).
