India ban on Chinese telecom manufacturers exposed

For the people who say China manufacture junk .I just want to ask how much you paid .every one all know low price low quality. China not only just product poor quality but also high quality it base which you want to buy ,how much you want to pay .they do OEM for famous brand ,produce high quality.so don't just say junk just look the purse.HUAWEI is a good company the quality you can test .and it also offer mang jobs for indian .is it a junk can launch SHENZHOU
areoboat,is it a junk built for the fastest speed railway.there is no need to argue it . as the global develop world become a little village.
For India and China all can manufacture high qualitly just depend the price.

my friend we dont need to explain all this to them iq 81 indians , they probably wont get it any way, most developed countries all started off by producing junks first this is true in case of japan hk taiwan s korea ect, if u dont have the capability to even produce junk how u gonna make high end products?

I would love to ban something from India but there is nothing worth banning...

Well ,Indian companies like Infosys and TCS have their branches in Shanghai and hangzhou where they employ around 10000 young and educated chinese .You could ban them if u want to.

A venture like that is a equal benefit venture. The india offshore firms are trying to get a foothold in the china market and hence setup the operations.

We worked with one of the bigger offshore companies in migrating the roles from india to shanghai and the pay for the china side was higher then on the india side (analyst, senior and lead analyst roles).

Do you think if they didn't want the market access badly they would have gone to such measures?

How is it protectionism when India does not have Indian companies competing in this area. This just looks like instead of importing from China,India is comfortable importing from the West probably paying more.Maybe they do have legitimate security concerns..otherwise it would be insane to pay more for the same thing.

Here is a list of Indian (Domestic) Mobile (GSM, EDGE and HSDPA) manufactueres:

  • Karbonn
  • Intex Technologies
  • Micromax
  • Videocon
  • Lava
Here is an article highlighting why steps such as these are classified "Protectionism":

Indian made mobiles a rage

So yes it is protectionism and nothing more. If it suits India's economy to act in such as way, then it is their choice but to say chinese goods are sub par is wrong, totally wrong.

The Western countries use to act the very same way with Japan when they started making cameras and TVs. and look where they ended up on the Tech Map... So stop being so naive and remember "Google is your friend".

Its this kind of superior attitude that alienates India from its neighbors.

Don't make ma laugh Dude! its China or Chinese who suffers badly from superiority complex. a decade of fast growth has gone into their heads and thats the reason why world see them as a threat and working against them.

Before advising anybody else on manners go through the forum and see how ur countrymen rants about each and everything from China as if they can take the world hands down.

All this superiority complex when u r just a factory base for West. Just wonder what could have been the scenario had west not invested monetarily and technologically in ur factories in mainland China.

Tell me one product that is designed and developed by China even after progressing so much. All you produce is reverse engineered stuff or a cheap replica of all the products designed and developed by West.

Due to cheap prices alone Indian companies were buying the stuff from Chinese Telecom firms but it can not be done anymore after it was noticed that the network equipments were unethically bugged to let Hackers access to Indian network.

Are bhai....by this logic... India should go ahead and Ban Nokia...Motorola and Sony Ericsson...as they control more than 80% of total India Mobile Market...and please note that all these Companies get their Mobiles Manufactured In China......

Its not about Market ...its about intentions....

hmm Good try I must say! Now go and check one more time the list of companies you have provided. They all are just mobile phone manufacturers not into networking equipment manufacturing. The Chinese companies banned were into different domain i.e Network equipments. I hope now you see the difference so try again. :)

BTW, the reasons for the ban is provided well and clear by the Indian govt so no need to speculate.

Well your countrymen, out of superiority complex, was not aware of the same and wanted to know something he can ban. So go and teach him about the same.

And about the pay, please throw up some numbers so that we can compare how you were paying more than Indian side?

Moser Baer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moser Baer is the world's 2nd largest optical storage media manufacturer and supplies to the world's top dozen brands

Certified by Sony as a Green Partner for product environment systems, scoring 95.3%. This is the highest score ever for any company audited by Sony.

Huawei is a world class company. I was shocked why would India ban it keeping in view that a large number of Indians are also working with Huawei

Mike, here is another example of superiority complex from your IQ100 countrymen.

ChinaChina, its West money and technology they invested in your factories decade back that is paying off now. Japan progressed well before you doesn't mean that they have higher IQ then u. Its all about the timing of investments in the country. so get Real for god sake!

Security concerns

In 2005, the possibility of Huawei's bid on British telecommunications company Marconi has triggered a request from Conservative party to UK government to "consider the implications for Britain's defense security".[43]. Marconi was later acquired by Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson.

In 2008 Military Report to the Congress,[44] Pentagon stated that Huawei "maintains close ties" to Chinese People Liberation Army (PLA). In the same year, the proposed merger of US-based communications company 3COM Corp by Huawei met with US Congress investigation[45] and subsequent determination by Director of National Intelligence that "3Com-Huawei merger would undermine U.S. national security".
In March 2009, Alex Allan, the Chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee, has briefed members of UK government about the "threat", allegedely imposed by Huawei's equipment in British national telecom network BT.[46]

In September 2009, Australian security agency ASIO started investigating the alleged links between local Huawei employees and Chinese military.[47]

In October 2009, Indian Department of Telecommunications reportedly requested national telecom operators to "self-regulate" the use of Chinese-made equipment (including ZTE and Huawei), quoting security concerns.[48] Earlier, in 2005, Huawei was blocked from supplying equipment to India's national network BSNL.[49] In 2010, Indian security intelligence (CBI) insisted on canceling the rest of the Huawei contract with BSNL and pressed charges against several top BSNL officers regarding their "doubtful integrity and dubious links with Chinese firms".[50][51] In April 2010, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd., the Indian unit of Russia's AFK Sistema, didn't get clearance to buy Huawei equipment.[52]
