NEW DELHI: India is aware of reports of Pakistan`s nuclear expansion and is taking all steps to safeguard India`s national interest, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Friday.

"The government is aware of reports on the expansion of Pakistan`s capability for fissile material production for nuclear weapons," Parrikar informed the Lok Sabha. "The government continues to monitor development in this regard and is committed to taking all necessary steps to safeguard national security and respond to any threat suitably and adequately," he said.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Pakistan has 110-130 nuclear warheads while India possesses 100-120. Meanwhile, a paper by renowned American scholars Tom Dalton and Michael Krepon, "A Normal Nuclear Pakistan", argues that Pakistan could have the third-biggest nuclear stockpile within a decade and could end up producing 20 nuclear warheads annually. The 48-page report warns that if Pakistan continues with its current path, in 10 years, it could possess a nuclear arsenal nearing 350 weapons. The report said Pakistan operates four plutonium production reactors while India operates one. Pakistan has the capability to produce perhaps 20 nuclear warheads annually. India appears to be producing about five warheads annually. The report added that given its larger economy and sizable nuclear infrastructure, India can outpace Pakistan in fissile material and warhead production if it chose to.

And I am aware that Parrikar is aware of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal...:)

But we are not interested in developing nuclear arsenal. It doesn't give a positive image to the country. India will be glad with economic capability. Nukes don't count much. In 10 years there is a potential chance that Anti-Ballistic missile development can further deter the nukes.

India is 3.72 times larger than Pakistan in area so Pakistan needs at least 500 nukes to fully cover India in a nice way and more if it needs redundancy.

Nice, Keeping Nuclear and try to digest Grass

.
But we are not interested in developing nuclear arsenal.

 You sure about this? Check with Mr. Modi's office on this. Their answer would be entirely different.

Their economy has taken off. Soon, their GDP will be within the top 15-18 economies. I don't think the grass eating is necessary. Those days are gone. Someone recently told me that they plan on acquiring 12 new submarines (including nuke one's) and about 30 various naval ships of various size, plus an internal JFT based stealth platform to establish internal industry. Eating grass for sure doesn't produce these results.

There are many ways to deliver a nuke. Like suitcase nuclear bombs developed by Russia.

That shouldn't be your problem, you should rather focus on getting some toilets for most of your population. Whether we eat grass or cow steaks, we at least have access to toilets...we don't sit & sh** along the roads like you people.

Hypocrisy in an article.. Doesn't Parrikar know that India has enough fissile material for more than 2000 bombs.. anyone can google it, maybe he should too!
He knows very well and India is making a lot of nukes but the world is against our nukes...all these zionist jews and hindus are afraid of our nukes and that gives a severe pain in their arses. India has been given the clean chit by uncle sam and despite the least secure nuclear program, the world won't speak against it but a few reasonable countries like China, Turkey and Russia that opposed India's bid to become part of NSG have the knowledge about this issue and courage to take action.
