India asks China to import agri-products like rice & sugar

I don't remember China being shortage of rice and sugar.

. . .
Food is something China will import heavily

Doesn't matter, the Chinese side needs to address this huge deficit if they want to sustain trade between our 2 nations. This massive deficit=it is your favor isn't sustainable for us

Atually India isnt the only Country China has a trade deficit(in her favor) with. most of the world all face the same situation

Indian rice tastes different from Thai long grain rice and those short grain rice familiar to Chinese. it may be more suitable for rice cuisine in middle east where cooked rice grains are preferred not to stick together. In most part of Chinese, this feature is actually not favored.

Believe me Chinese will never turn vegetarian.
personally, I prefer more Chinese turn to vegetarianism. Chinese waste a great deal on food luxury. comparatively, those vegetarian Indians are amazingly frugal on food and they still enjoy it.

In India no body like the rice which sticks- making non-sticky rice takes longer process and It can be stored longer- In future I see China a great market for Indian food like "Biryani"-

To be a more sustainable society- Chinese will have to be more vegetarian- or they will end up importing a lot of meat from countries like India, US, Brazil, Australia etc- Making it totally dependent on food from outside-

:what: And Indian traders stopped supply of vegetables to Pakistan

They can explore new markets in China- like in Tibet, Indian traders can supply fresh vegetables much faster than mainland China- and given that Indo-Chinese relations is not as volatile It would be a better option than Pakistan- Pakistan perhaps can import these from China then If It wants- Like they do with most Indian goods and import it via Dubai-

:P we have no issue we are an agricultural country even we have kitchen gardens now in cities in small homes.

BUT again man asking China ?

That is what I figured. Marketing "Biryani" could be a good move. Chinese have already been familiar to a similar rice dish from Xinjiang, which is rice cooked with lamb and carrots. it is supposed to be enjoyed by hands, not spoon, similar to Indian practice.

not necessarily. the train route to Tibet capital city allows fresh food to reach Tibet faster from other part of China. The route between India and Tibet is not in good quality.

Yes- The customer is always the King-

not necessarily. the train route to Tibet capital city allows fresh food to reach Tibet faster from other part of China. The route between India and Tibet is not in good quality.

I agree the route between India and Tibet is not good quality- I hope something is done about this-

Also It would be nice to see the extension of Tibetan Rail route to Indian City of Kolkata, via Kathmandu and Bihar- Would bring two great civilizations together and It will attract Buddhist Pilgrims too as It will cover most pilgrim centers-

That will be the most expensive train route on the planet. I doubt China will invest in it, let alone potential protest from India.

China is already planning to connect Kathmandu- a few Hundred Kilometers more and you reach Tarai region of Nepal which is plains and India is next door with all Its Railway network-

Rather than worrying about protests- Leadership of both countries should take up an initiative- a few Decades ago partnership with US on anything was a sin in India- But people to people contact have made It possible- I see similar opportunities with China- People to people contact should be encouraged- It will pay in long term-
