India asks Israel to accelerate the delivery of a variety of important bilateral defense projects, including the two systems of missiles surface-to-air [SAM] advanced to deflect jets, unmanned aircraft, and helicopters opponent.

India made the request at a meeting of the 10th India-Israel Cooperation Group for the defense, which took place in early December in New Delhi. Indian Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma and the Director of the Israel Ministry of Defense Major General Ehud Shani co-chair the meeting. The meeting focused on bilateral programs in the fields of defense training, exchanges, research and development projects, as well as the purchase of weapons. They also discuss the Israel-Hamas ceasefire recently.

Israel is the second largest defense supplier to India - after Russia - with annual sales of approximately $ 1 billion. However, this relationship is somewhat covered for political reasons. Equipment sold to India including the unmanned aerial vehicle [UAV] Heron and Searcher, unmanned aircraft "killer" Harpy and Harop, Barak anti-missile defense system, Green Pine radar, and missile air-to-air Python and Derby.

There are some minor constraints on medium-range SAM project is bigger, which took place from February 2009 to strengthen the AU defense squadrons India. Isarel Aerospace Industries [IAI] is developing two SAM systems, in collaboration with Defence Research and Development Organisation [DRDO] India. Both systems use the same missile, intercepted a distance of 70 km. Bharat Dynamics Ltd Company. [BDL] appointed to manufacture the systems.

Remote SAM project to be completed in May 2013. According to reports, the navigation control system which weighs about 275 kg, successfully functioning on trial in July near Tel Aviv. Israel may acquire other large missile project from India, a contract worth about $ 1 billion to supply anti-tank guided missiles [ATGM] third-generation infantry battalion of 356 AD India 1.13 million all-powerful army.

Purchase ATGM for AD associated with the transfer of technology

Over the last few years, India has signed military spending of the United States, valued at more than $ 8 billion. These include large-scale purchase of "Super Hercules" C-130J, C-17 Globemaster-III, and maritime patrol aircraft P-8i, but none of the project involving the rights to produce in India.

Project ATGM, on the contrary, involves the transfer of technology requirements as AD 356 infantry battalion to equip them with missiles to offset the main battle tank [MBT] Pakistan and China. It is estimated as many as 2,000 and 24,000 missile launchers are required for this project will be manufactured by BDL after obtaining the approval of the transfer of technology from foreign vendors are selected.

Army Chief of Staff Gen.. Bikram Singh is prioritizing the modernization of infantry. Therefore, the Army wants to complete the procurement of advanced ATGM is 2.5 km before the end of 2017.

Overall AD will have more than 81,000 ATGM, but only less than half of that has been received.

Be added AWACS

India is also in talks to buy two AWACS [warning and control system of the air] Israeli Phalcon, which can detect the opponent aircraft, cruise missiles, and a variety of acaman air, much earlier than ground radar. This system would be worth more than 800 million U.S. dollars.

During 2009-2010, the Air Force Phalcon AWACS placed three first under a $ 1.1 billion agreement between the three parties, namely India, Israel and Russia in 2004.

AWACS technology will be used first on the exercise day and night to show off the full combat capability AU. "Iron Fist" is scheduled to begin on February 22, 2013 at Pokhran Ranges, and is expected to be attended by President Pranab Mukherjee, as well as military officials from many other countries.

Together with the planned projects for the Army and Air Force that, India is also having a party shopping for building maritime power and develop samuderanya AL . This goal is supported Israel.

This project includes a Russian-built aircraft carrier, several aircraft surveillance remote US-made, and a nuclear-powered submarine homemade.

IAI was already complete by the Indian Navy UAVs and Israeli companies are scheduled to send additional equipment, including air defense missile Barak-8.

India-Israel relations coldness first

Given the growing military might of China and Pakistan, India has embraced Israel and several other countries to build up their own strength, as well as making them allies.

Relations between the two countries has existed for decades. They opened diplomatic relations until 1992, after years of freezing. According to The Global Research in International Studies at Herliza Center, Israel, for the emergence of hostility mixed. In 1947, India voted against the UN General Assembly against a resolution that led to the separation of the founding of Israel.

It was a tradition, for India the largest Muslim population in the world, to support the Arabs in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Even so, Israel secretly supplied arms and ammunition to India during the war with China in 1962; conflict with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971, as well as the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty of 1979.

But it was not until the end of the Cold War in 1991, relations between India and Israel to melt. The Soviet Union is a key ally of India, who later found the country needs desperately looking for allies. Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 1998, and has warned of the threat of Islamic terrorism, and therefore, India saw Israel as an ally. 11 September 2011 terror attacks was increasingly pushed India seek new allies.

Shadowed by fears of Iran's support for Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as its nuclear program, India continues to strengthen its relationship with Israel. India is also concerned about Pakistan, which has nuclear weapons and is accused of giving the defendants a refuge for terrorists.

Last January, India and Israel form a joint counter-terrorism strategy and sign an extradition treaty. Both events took place as a result of a meeting between Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and India's Foreign Minister SM Krishna during the visit of the two-day India's foreign minister to Israel, the first visit in the last decade.
