India: Army 'mistook planets for spy drones'

What's so funny? Like all soldiers are trained in astrophysics.

Mistaking planets millions and billions kilometers away for drones flying just above in the atmosphere by a powerful hi-tech Army is not funny?

Not to denigrate them, they are soldiers and the best part is they are so attentive they won't take a chance even if it appears funny, but it sure is very funny you have to admit that.

What actually is depressing is that they did not use a radar that could tell them the distance, unless it was just a concern raised by those who saw them with naked eyes and reported it to the Signals Battalion.

But surely, they would have to wait for hours for the signal ray to reach Jupiter and come back to the radar lol

What kind of equipment do those guys have, that they couldn't see it was a planet?

Also it reeks of hysteria.

Like the mass hysteria in India, during the Ladakh incident.

Like the mass hysteria in India, during the Ladakh incident.

Had they used any equipment, no matter how bad, it would have first caught the Moon as a drone. It was simply reported by foot soldiers suspecting the bright objects to be UFOs that could be drones.

And no, it is not hysteria, the soldiers are kept on toes and are supposed to report anything that they find suspicious.

Even with a free smartphone app, like Google Sky Map, you can see exactly where the planets and stars and constellations are instantly.

You DON'T even need a phone signal or an internet connection, just a compass which comes with all smartphones.

Instead, these guys are having a panic, first UFO's... now Chinese military drones.

It seems like the Ladakh hysteria all over again.

This shows how paranoid Indians can get。。。。

These people are best summarized by the Chinese saying ”every bush and tree looks like an enemy“

Extreme nervousness。:azn:

.
One thing for sure. The Chinese must be thinking till now "What some UFO is coming from our side and we do not know?" They also must are doing their research till now to find out what it is that Indians are complaining. The Pakistanis must be thinking till now "We must ask Chinese to give that drone to us." The Americans mean while must have terrified what is the new weapon the Chinese are testing. No body knew till the Indian scientist prove it otherwise. So we rectified our mistakes(though I think it is not a mistake, Many in other part of the world have experienced similar kind of sightings). We can always refer to many UFO sightings and its conclusion. Even American and European Pilots have similar experience with Moon and Venus and after all it was a Sentry!!
Typical indian, make excuse now!!

Netizen in China forum are mocking indian again, it is another laughing stock from india(india are laughing stock in china forum), and make survey that whether indian need cure? From you comment, I think you don't, because that's real indian self.

On the topic:
There are some interesting questions:
1.Why indian sentry make mistake?
2.Why indian general don't verify it personally first before public it, but just believe sentry's "eye"? too lazy? or they don't verify it because China factor in the case? for political election?
3.This thing is not confirmed, but you choose to criticized china on these first(How could we know what are you talking about, we may think the "UFO" is real UFO, and we general also suggest you shoot it down), why are you too casual?
4.And they counter it more than 100 hundred, in half years don't find it is a mistake. one sentry may make mistake, indian general and other soldiers too, unbelievable.

From this case, we don't only find indian are nervous to china, but also can find indian amry even their goverment have big problem, you look for such army beating china? it is joke itself, if china be beated, China will become joke.

Why did it take them 6 months to figure out it was a Planet?

I mean if a Soldier spots something bright in the sky, he should have reported to the higher-ups who would have used Radar or signal intercept to figure out that there is nothign there but a Planet.

Or was it a total failure of Indian Chain of Command that they failed to communicate their findings to the soldiers on the ground or did they themselves think it were Stealth Chinese Drones?

Whatever the case, it is mad hilarous and clearly shows the lack of professionalism and finesse that exists in the Indian Armed Forces.

So you think PLA officiers‘ explicit advice or suggestion to India to bring down the objects was for nothing?:azn:

Stop deluding yourself。

Yes,the average Indian soldier might be a complete fool, but what about the IA high command? And the Indian government? For god's sake, you lot (from the Centre down to the foot soldiers)spent months trying to figure out the truth, first doubting UFOs then suspecting Chinese drones, all to no avail.

 Massive fail. Thumbs down!

Indian army personnel operating on the disputed Himalayan border with China reportedly spent six months observing suspected Chinese spy drones before finding out the objects were planets.

After 329 separate sightings and 155 violations of the Line of Actual Control (the Himalayan border between the two nations) officials recruited a team of astronomers to find out exactly what the mysterious intruders were. After close observation the astronomers reported that the 'aircraft' spotted in the sky were in fact Venus and Jupiter.

“Our task was to determine whether these unidentified objects were celestial or terrestrial,” said Tushar Prabhu, a senior astronomer who spoke to Calcutta-based paper, The Telegraph.

Prabhu's team were informed that one object was visible from a vantage point nearly 5,000 metres above sea level, appearing in the horizon from about 6pm until 5am the next day. A second appeared at 4am but had disappeared without fail by 11 the same morning.

Despite army personnel reporting that the objects appeared as the brightest lights in the sky and that they always seemed to move in relation to the stars, it was not until astronomers requested that the Army record a log of horizontal and vertical elevations for the figures that they were identified as planets. Their apparent motion was due to the rotation of the Earth.

Although the army's mistake seems rudimentary the area where the incident occured is a notorious hotspot for disputes between the two countries, with border violations in the region used as a pretext for the 1962 India-China War. As the use of drones for surveillance rises in popularity the number of trangression reported in the region has escalted. With such a history it's no surprise that tensions are high.

Writer of article is a bast*rd!
Did jubiter and venus intruded the LAC?

Wow many people believe the bbc **** news reports!
Without iota of thinking some more **** journals joined in?

New Delhi, July 23: Phew! Science has saved a Roman god and a goddess from possible Armageddon launched from the Earth by the mighty Indian Army, egged on by TV studio patriots always keeping a gimlet eye open for Chinese intruders.

The Indian Army mistook Jupiter and Venus as unidentified flying intruders making nocturnal sorties from China into the skies above eastern Ladakh for over six months until astronomers brought their fears to ground, it has been disclosed.

Cry all you want, coz it basically means that the IA soldiers are continuously on alert and are clearly professional enough to report detailed information on every encounter, and yes intercept methods like radars were used and a bright shining light in the night sky would hardly spell "Stealth Chinese Drones", or did they forget the stealth part?
Which translates to the fact that the Indian army didn't see them as significant "threat".
Its the media that's making a big fuss out of it.

What's hilarious is the fact that everyone needs to blow their horn, when you are forgetting the fact that IA is continuously on their feet. So the joke's on you pal.

This news was actually brought to my attention by my goray work colleagues earlier on today. we still cannot stop laughing! lolzzzzzzzzzzz...:rofl::rofl:

I cannot believe the indians are being so defensive and suggesting you need to be an astronomer/astrophysicist to differentiate between a planet and a man made drone!! All you need is a tiny bit of common sense!! I mean its bad enough they made such a stupid blunder in the first instance but then to continue investigating it for 6 months....lolz!!! but im even more amazed at how indians are continuing to defend this with their ridiculous & absurd logic/comments! lolzzz

This is just absurd but absolutely hilarious - it has certainly made our day!! lolzz
