India should acquire from Pakistan made artillery weapons to save atleast the transportation cost and early acquisition since Pakistan is a major global player in light and heavy artillery arms weapons trade production. During the Kargil showdown, India was left with no artillery shells and requested an immediate procurement request to Israel but israel also make artillery weapons under US license so she had to take permission from USA to supply to India. Pakistan is a convenient and shortest way with world class artillery weapons.

I think we should give these tenders to those who have a JV with Indian firms and have an Indian presence only. It is high time we move the artillery production from the dingy, useless workshops of sarkaris to the fast, efficient and on-time performance of private sector.
