India? Another Chernobyl Waiting to Happen?

Well nuclear safety is concern for all citizens of continent , Russians are not really known to build something good when it comes to Nuclear Plants -

I hope India rather uses the American ones as they are bit more secure for sake of its own citizens and also health of neighbouring countries anyhow , I will leave the people of india decide , its their own health at stake :pop:

But great deal congrats  , I just hope it does not turns out to be a chernobyl, and don't blame it on us , please .. we have our hands full

Hey who knows we might rent out some electricity from India if our relations get better

I know few months ago there was almost a desaster in indian nuclear plant .. some ppl were sick etc water leak or something ...

No bro, i think you did not read my post!! If an American reactor leaks, they will look bad na!! Rem CIA is also in the team. They insisted on Russian ones.
Lets not discuss this further, i have spilt the beans, leaked the CIA-RAW-Mossad plan!! I hope they spare me!!!

I would have prefered the American Nuclear plants they have greater safety record , but anyhow , I can't argue with Nuclear scientist that wrote that report  They are more educated them me

no i am a RAW agent and i will kill you

wow u indian just admit it your technology and keeping of high values are at nil. i mean how can you say we should not worrie? i mean we do NOT WANT TO HAVE THE GREAT ITCH that happend around the 70 or 80 i was too young but i do remember that it was beacuse of indias stupidetythat we got the nuclear fallout after they tested a N bomb.. history has it ways of repeating its self so please dont screw up

RAW-CIA-Mossad are cruel bro!! Help us!! The Hindu zionists have taken over!!! Even we do not want this barbaric stuff!! It will take or lives too when they will leak the reactor!!

PS- I think this thread is rubbish and deserves rubbish!!

Some1 else take over! later!!

Why are the Indians being so careless with their nuclear reactors? India should not have anything related to nuclear materials.

I will tell you a secret!! This is a CIA-RAW-Mossad secret plan!! First they will cause a nuclear leak, in a plant near our Western states( close enough to Pakistan). Then we will blame Pakistan for the leak.
And the nuclear clouds will be "blown" towards Pakistan using giant Israeli "fans".
Ek teeer do nishaane!!!
CIA- RAW-Mossad at its best!!!!!(Western Zionists + Hindu Zionists)
GENIUS ?:rofl::rofl:

oh.u hv reveled thE whole secret..but u forgot mi 6 in the list and we gonna make 4 nuclear reactor with pakistani border nearby

Many of these reactors also have what is called a "positive coolant void coefficient," which means that if the coolant in the central part of the core were to heat up and form bubbles of sodium vapor, the reactivity—a measure of the neutron balance within the core, which determines the reactor’s tendency to change its power level (if it is positive, the power level rises)—would increase; therefore core melting could accelerate during an accident. (A positive coolant void coefficient, though not involving sodium, contributed to the runaway reaction increase during the April 1986 Chernobyl reactor accident.)

Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Two 1 GW reactors of the VVER-1000 model are being constructed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Atomstroyexport.

VVER - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Russian abbreviation VVER stands for water-cooled, water-moderated energy reactor. This describes the pressurized water reactor design. Reactor fuel rods are fully immersed in water kept at 15 MPa of pressure so that it does not boil at normal (220 to over 300 °C) operating temperatures. Water in the reactor serves both as a coolant and a moderator which is an important safety feature. Should coolant circulation fail the neutron moderation effect of the water diminishes, reducing reaction intensity and compensating for loss of cooling, a condition known as negative void coefficient.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Void_coefficient
Reactor designs

Boiling water reactors generally have negative void coefficients, and in normal operation the negative void coefficient allows reactor power to be adjusted by changing the rate of water flow through the core. However, the negative void coefficient can cause an unplanned reactor power increase in events (such as sudden closure of a steamline valve) where the reactor pressure is suddenly increased. In addition, the negative void coefficient can result in power oscillations in the event of a sudden reduction in core flow, such as might be cause by a recirculation pump failure. Boiling water reactors are designed to ensure that the rate of pressure rise from a sudden steamline valve closure is limited to acceptable values, and they include multiple safety systems designed to ensure that any sudden reactor power increases or unstable power oscillations are terminated before fuel or piping damage can occur.

Pressurized water reactors operate with no voids at all, and the water serves as both moderator and coolant. Thus a large negative void coefficient ensures that if the water boils or is lost the power output will drop.

CANDU reactors have positive void coefficients that are small enough that the control systems can easily respond to boiling coolant before the reactor reaches dangerous temperatures (see References).

RBMK reactors, such as the reactors at Chernobyl, have a dangerously high positive void coefficient. This was necessary for the reactor to run on unenriched uranium and to require no heavy water. Before the Chernobyl accident these reactors had a positive void coefficient of 4.7 beta and after the accident that was lowered to 0.7 beta. This was done so all RBMK reactors could resume safe operating and produce much needed power for the then USSR and its satellites.

Fast breeder reactors do not use moderators, since they run on fast neutrons, but the coolant (often lead or sodium) may serve as a neutron absorber and reflector.

Magnox reactors, advanced gas-cooled reactors and pebble bed reactors are gas-cooled and so void coefficients are not an issue. In fact, some can be designed so that total loss of coolant does not cause core meltdown even in the absence of active control systems. As with any reactor design, loss of coolant is only one of many possible failures that could potentially lead to an accident.

but why are you worrying about nuke disaster in india?? onlyy indians will die so its good for you;).....
and they say india is obsessed with pakistani nuclear assets:rofl::rofl:

I think our enemies should be happy that india's own rectors will destroy it.

i dont think they fear the nuclear cloud considering they r always willing to nuke us at first place.

Well Booo!!!!, has certainly cleared the air,There is thothin else to discuss. hehe

I think we are talking about nuclear reactors here and not custurd pudding. We have some of the best scientists in the country in association with some of the best in the world working on nuclear technology. USA approved the nuclear deal, which in itself proves how reliable our nuclear program is.

As for Pakistan, they were begging for nuclear deal since decades, still no go and US even cleared it that Pakistan won't get a nuclear deal. This tells that US is not confident in Pak's program and knows how reliable Pak has been in the past. Read AQ Khan.

Indian nuclear technology is up there with the best in the world. And nuclear doesn't necessarily mean a nuclear bomb. Some people are so obsessed with nuclear bombs and missiles, they can't get over it.
