India and Pakistan united... in Luton

.
CHANDIGARH: A bonding of a lifetime was forged between a Punjabi family and their Pakistani guests during their stay in Chandigarh for the World Cup semis between India and Pakistan. The visitors gushed about the warm hospitality extended to them by their Punjabi hosts, the Kohris of sector 19, who made them feel completely at home.

"We just wanted to bridge the gap between the two countries through our hospitality, as I don't know when will I get a chance to host them again. This has been a tremendous experience," smiled Amandeep Kaur, who hosted two families, besides individual guests from Pakistan.

And Pakistan's defeat in the match did not affect the friendship that the families shared.

Pakistani criketer Shahid Afridi's brothers, Mushtaq and Javed, who met and became friends with this Punjabi couple's son at Taj hotel, met the family over lunch before they left for Pakistan on Thursday.

They were welcomed with open arms and quite enjoyed the Punjabi food served to them.Though a little disappointed with Pakistan's defeat, Afridi's brothers shared happy moments with the hosts. Afridi's youngest brother, Javed Afridi, who had come to India for the first time was appreciative of the hospitality of the family.

I can only say is that one should have the good grace not to carry the animosity beyond the actuals.

I wonder, as an Indian, if indeed anyone feels any animus meeting a decent educated liberal Pakistani.

It is only on issues that created discord or the illogical rantings of the lumpen lot and the brainless jingoist that gives rise to the irritation and animus.

That apart, why should there is any animus towards efforts to be better human beings and without man made rancour?

My comments are not aimed at anyone on this forum, but is a generalised statement.

We are one people we eat the same food and speak the same language and both our nations share the love of cricket, these things can bring us closer. I hope India will tour Pakistan in a test match series it will be a boost in relations and further people to people contact.

Nice gestures from the Indian ppl.

We had initiated many years back when Indian fans visited Pakistan.

such gestures are many and not a new thing. the problem is when it comes to be neutral no one shows that :)

i wish if your spectators had appreciated good shots, bowling from Pakistani players
