What's new

India and NATO

nope dear. America hasn't invested heavily in India.

Japan is investing more than US in India.

It is India investing in US right now, buying weapons, reactors, buying their bankrupt companies etc.

i think you took my words a bit too literally.

the us has invested heavily in india in terms of political, economic, military and diplomatic support - full spectrum support

and the word investment is correct because as you know nothing is for free, in essence the us is trying to buy a nation in return for mercenary services against china, so theres a choice for india to make, accept or reject.

.
i guess thats the dream for us all, but america is invested heavily in india and not for no reason, like i said, india will have to make the choice.

It is funny to know that a booming gigantic economy like India is primarily funded by a small country like Mauritius.......i.e.we Indians are biggest investors of ourselves.

Share of top five investing countries in FDI inflows. (2000–2007)[119]

Rank Country Inflows(billion USD)
1 Mauritius 85.18
2 United States 18.04
3 United Kingdom 15.36
4 Netherlands 11.18
5 Singapore 9.74

Mauitius roghly bring's India's half of the nvestment
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_India

Now as india recieved about $38 billion in 2009-2010 of which $12 billion came from Mauritius followed by USA $9 billion.

....xtra off topic......india is the second largest investor in UK...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6599693.stm...after USA and ahead of FRANCE and GERMANY.

and yet again you take the words too literally by only focusing on economic aspects - india is a country of over a billion, ofcourse they will do alot of business.

however the us has given india important diplomatic, military and political help, consider that in the 90's the us made a conscience attempt to change its attitude reverse its relationship with india, surely you indians are not so naive as not to question this?

or maybe you dont want to openly admit it on a pakistani forum, i dont know.

so you are saying that India must turn off all the assistance provided by US.. for every government first priority is its citizens and national intrest foreign affairs are 2nd priority.... if any country come and helps us we can't shu them away..... whether it is US or pakistan or Russia or Israel...

well I believe the choice is either the carrot or the stick.

you fall in line with US policies and receive favorable treatment by doing their bidding, or you maintain your own path and refuse, and therefore there will be no offer of a carrot, but perhaps a stick??

Indian policies are surely going in right direction...India will maintain its status as such.....firm and friendly....it is a country with better foreign policies than US and NATO as a whole.....it mixes with them but does not become them......and buddy its the policy of the new era......India and China are the ones practicing this policy vigorously........that's why it is called ASIAN CENTURY!Such policies will only take these country's to new heights on the world stage.....

A TRUE SUPERPOWER IS NEVER OPINIONATED.

did it maintain these policies in voting against iran on the nuke issue?

did it maintain these policies by playing on the tibet issue against china?

i am not meaning to flame here but india seems to have major issues with all of its neighbours, and the pressure cooker is ony getting hotter, lets have a bit of decorum here and stick to reality, for india to maintain neutral and still benefot from western help is a big ask, but if it can be pulled off then kudos.

excuse me!!! india did maintain these policies on iran issue...
do you know indian interests better than Indian govt??

We are very clear that we do not want any other nation to have nuke warheads (when we already have the two)

not to support china blindly on tibet issue is in the interests of india as we have some border issues with chinese... and tibet is bordering state of china to india....

so whatever are policies of indian govt they have full support of indian people...as we have elected the same party consecutively for 2 terms... it is when election issue was foreign relations.....

we do not want any suggestions from any country on indian foreign affairs:cool:

there are many many indians who were against voting iran on the nuke issue.

there are many many indians who want peace with china and do not wish to aggrevate them.

ya I understand you....I respect your thoughts!

APPARENTLY India has made its policies by the will of its people(intellectuals only).India has most of the time has backed the truth and right. This is the biggest reason why the NATO has been unable to point its finger against India...India has actually defeated the west in its game of democracy and blah blah blah.Tibetan protest was the peaceful one and though India doesn't have any significant Buddhist masses it supported the move.On the other hand going against the Tamil movement in Sri Lanka which was a violent Hindu vs Buddhist propaganda and even if we lost a PM and got lots of local bashing we went through because we don't support violence in the land of Gandhi. Now you may tend to highlight Godhra and Babri...PM me we shall discuss it there.

Present government has maintained its neutrality on Israel Palestine issue ...that's the beauty of Indian diplomacy. One supports the cause and other doesn't and this has prevented India to become opinionated.India and China(to an extent) have exercised such diplomacy and the biggest reason is that India is a diverse community with no one opinion and China is a non religious state with culture not the driving force unlike the Muslim and the Christian world. While the Christian and Muslim world is busy fighting and trying to rope in India and China ...both these nations have maintained their neutrality and that's the sign of them creating a WHOLE NEW WORLD ORDER in coming decades.

India and China the only to great civilizations in existence today and till eternity.

hmmm, ok, i dont agree, the india of today is moving more and more away from its civilisational roots, in 50 years time it will be further diluted, in the meantime i cant convince you of anything so lets just wait and see,

1. nah don't need landmines that would just be a travel hazard, Nato invaded tibet??? then they better be prepared for WW3 china is not iraq we can say this and have the hardware to back it up, ie the PLA is our guarantee against invasion. and india....dont make me laugh

2. yes

3. nuclear weapon can/do already target india(easily) and nato nations but yes to the missile defense, not just tibet but nationally.

anyways nothing says we cant work with nato on some things cooperation is good so long as it doesnt harm our interests

After Kosovo single-side independence, no China doesn't trust NATO for every event because Kosovo's case is NATO so-called precedcence. Some silly Western Whites shout that Tibet is the next Kosovo.

Very thanks to Russian response to Kosovo independence by controlling South Ossetia. It tells the NATO or India, if you want to support Tibet independence, your territories may become another South Ossetia. :chilli:
