India and its relation with neighbor -Our Mindset need to Change

The classic example how biased we are ...Today i was going through a cricket news...Australia is somehow pulling out of Bangladesh...Now, should i be happy or feel upset or simply ignore it...Initially i was simply ignoring it...But i go though some comments, i was surprised that many Indian are simply taunting BD people and taking sides of Aus team descison.... Is it not unfortunate to see this type of attitude of our people?? Who are these Australian people to whom we should feel happy when our nearest neighbor is not feeling happy?? Can not we ever think that same example can be given by these England and Aus team for India too?? If we can not help BD people in this time, at least we should sympathize with him or hope that Aus team should reconsider their decision rather than simply again taunting BD people... Seriously..these kind of attitude shows our false sense of pride and its creates tough situation for the people in BD who really want a good realtion with us...

Good to see some sane Indian voice in the forum. :-)

It's best to let go of Afghanistan and Pakistan. They had little to do with us before the British came and even littler to do after the 2 nation theory died.
More like a unified India, BD, Nepal and Sri Lanka - at least unified by a more effective replacement for SAARC, if not as one big unified political entity!

Exactly...For the sake of our region, we should make a economic arrangement where Eastern part of India, BD, Nepal, Butan and some extent Myanmar canbe roped in for trade and broader framework to improve ourselves.

but not so with india, yes?? it was generally one fluid land with the other two.

you may know that shahrukh khan has ancestry in afghanistan, peshawar, kashmir and hyderabad.

and even littler to do after the 2 nation theory died.

nevertheless, from kabul to dhaka is south asia and one cannot have some components into one bloc while keeping brothers and sisters as a separate angry bloc.

This post is nothing about any article or document that i am referring to rather, it is a thought in my mind.
I was going through the issues in Nepal and then it struck to my mind.

There is definitely some serious issue with our foreign policy issues. How come, on the people to people level, we are always at odd with our neighboring nations. Again, i am not referring to even Gov to Gov thing. Rather very much on people to people basis. I can see the posts that is posted by my Indian friends that includes me too. The entire content of this conversastion is to defend or argue withe all people of my neighourhood....Even people from Nepal is complaining....Is it not somethihg, our Indian friends should really think about...We have to admit that we have really serious issue with our approch when deal with our neighour.

1- Nepal: Why India is even having to worry about what the heck even happening to their constitution? Wheather they give right to Madhesi people or not, is it not crazy to say we will suggest what needs to be done to Madhesi people just because they are originated from India...This is the same issue and mistake India has done when they unnecessary get involved in Sri Lankan conflict...

2- Sri Lanka: Based on my knowelge, India supported LTTE just to check mate Sri Lanka which was closing into Pakistan and also US....Makes sense..This was happening in 1980..Now we are in 2015...Should India even at all worried what is happening in Sri Lanka?? Man, we people internally , do not provide equal right to our citizens just because they are of different caste...And agian, i am not even mentioning the other monority religion...It is better to not to mention it...How come we have any voice when we say and even discuss what Sri Lanka should deal with do with their own affairs.
3- Bangladesh : India should be fortunate that BD is the only Islamic nation which is the most secular nation among Muslim nations...We always makes issue of BD immigrants coming to India...Even myself to be blamed for this too....But we have to practically think that, is it possible for any nation to stop this kind of immigration when the difference in economic disparity is compelling people to migrate?...Even country like USA having so much of resources, can not stop illegal immigration from Mexico. So it literally impossible to stop such kind of migration in a forceful way...Why can not my gov think some rational and practical way to handle such situation rather than always making noise about in general BD people....We have to understand that if also we blame the BD GOv, BD Gov nor the people are asking those poor guys to cross the border to India...So we complain too much unreasonable, it is just creating unfavorable situation.

I am not here mentioning about Pakistan and China as i am still drafting couple of things...But one thing for sure, when i go thorugh the concerns of these nations about us, i still find their protests and concerns about us very much genuine....SOmetimes, we always overestimate our strength where we are not relaly the same which we think of....Time has come for a deeper analysis of the people and our mindset....Our concern about Sri Lanka is exactly same the way Pakistan is concerned about Kashmir...How can we say in one hand that our concern to Lanka is good but Pakistan stand of Kashmir is not good...Is it not a mere hypocrisy...

Instead of being defensive and hostile, some people are actually thinking!

just enjoy the game, regular people are never going to have a say anyway.

please allow me to start by correcting you on bangladesh being the most secular muslim country... any socialist muslim or muslim-majority country ( and there were quite a few at one point ) were secular in the true sense, having removed all reactionary forces by intellectual and armed engagement. :)

to your point about nepal, i agree with your suggestion ( to my understanding ) that india should not be make hostile moves or statement in the matter of their attempt to draw up a secular, progressive constitution... it was always wrong for indian establishment/military to lend support to the nepal royalist forces when many ordinary or at least the intellectuals were so clearly support the communists one way or another... indeed, kingship goes against democracy, whether in saudia or in nepal or in britain or in brunei.

there are reactionary forces in nepal ( all communities ) who don't want a secular constitution... these people will fail in time.

i will stretch your mention of bangladesh and sri lanka... irrespective of the histories, these two countries have done the most in south asia towards removing poverty, bringing sanitation, upholding the rights of ladies and so on... we from india, pakistan and afghanistan have a lot to learn from our small neighbors.

will wait for your addition for pakistan and china.

lastly, it is my serious and sincere hope that within 15 years, india, pakistan, bangladesh, nepal and afghanistan can be a unified society/state/entity that is driven not by religion but a humane and scientific social/political system.

regards,
jamahir.

Finally a sane post from an Indian!

Get ready to be butchered by the "56 inches" chest-thumping clan, but hope that does not stop the self reflection process!
