U r reply to my question, would let you find an answer by yourself that is the very reason I posted that question... anyway coming to your last sentence.. abt me keeping a non mystic dp and adopting socialism - it is my wish to chose my dp and my wish to adopt to a certain political ideology.. I was a staunch atheist and a communist in my childhood days while my parents where devout hindus, I Insulted gods, idols and religious texts something that many atheists would dare to think in there lifetimes .... I was against the concept of very existence of god.. certain things in my life made me change my views towards belief system and the presence of a super natural power (things that I can't reveal to anyone) ...

Coming back to your question abt earth quake in nepal, unlike abrahmic religions we are not promised any special preferences for being a hindu.. it is our karma that matters more than our religious practices.... 4% of nepalese population are muslim and ~1% are christians, why did earth quake occur when nepal had abrahmics living there ??

10 years is not a long time from a country's perspective, fall of Vajpayeeji's govt. was a blunder and the process of development got delayed, but we are emerging for sure, and that's why people are talking about us.

islam doesn't make much fuss about divinity as do other older religions... it is seen in the shahada ( credo of islam ), "there is not god but ( the one ) god and muhammad is ( just ) his messenger"... islam acknowledges that many prophets were present before prophet muhammad, especially prophet isa.

islam is the closet to atheism than any of the older religions... it concentrates on practically simplifying the present living life than talking about "paap and punya"... only sikhism comes close in the islami focus on spirituality rather than plain mysticism.

when there are the occassional fools like the iran mullahs declaring in 2003 that the earthquake there happened because of ladies wearing "immodest clothing", they are ridiculed first by muslims.

any system where the government taxes the citizens just so that it can buy foreign weapons ( for what?? ) while giving citizens a miserable life, should be overthrown... the government must exist to deliver free services to citizens and then say to citizens "now that we have made your life easy, it is your duty thus to politically participate in society and contribute to further development of it and of humanity".

I can give you 10 more horrible stats about India, all to do with poverty, and all our poverty is because this country has been put through decades of left leaning socialist policies.

I do not see neither Pakistan giving up Azad Kashmir nor China giving up Aksai Chin if we become socialist tomorrow. And they won't rest their claim on other territories as well.

So please explain, will becoming socialist solve territory problems?

China is socialist country, but they have messy neighbor. They are enemies with Japan and Vietnam. What logic are you applying here?

1. in the interim, i don't mind letting aksai chin being in chinese control if it gets india the alleigiance of china.

2. territory problems with pakistan are because of the enmity created by partition... i have been speaking since i joined about eventual unification of south asia ( excluding iran )... even created a thread ( proposal for a new division of south asia | Page 10 )... so india turning socialist tomorrow will force the neighbours to alter their policy radically.
