The solution is unacceptable.
First no self respecting SL leader will lease the sea to India as it will create a massive backlash in SL. Besides what will be the definition of sea that to be leased? How do we draw borders to the leased area and the non-leased area? The situation will be say as today.
Second common heritage? The Palk strait is not common heritage of India and Sri Lanka. That is why there is a border separating two nations. If it was to be used as common heritage obviously India will gain the upper hand and our own fishermen will be just bystanders of massive scale fishing operation by Indian fishermen.
It is better to lease the sea rather than sharing it.
we here are talking about a conflict, Central govt had gifted/ if not ceded a island to sri lanka, which that state is fighting a case for. Again, if you ask me that tiny island doesn't have a drop of water an is useless for me, but for people of tamil nadu its shores have plenty off fishes.
If they can prove govt of India ceded it good for them, if not good for them
This is not about Katchchethivu. It is about illegal poaching by Tamilnadu fishermen all around the Northern Sri Lanka.
