India, Afghanistan discussing Kabul river projects to deny water to Pakistan

. .
Pakistan can simply block all the rivers flowing to Afghanistan but we should skin alive our politicians who are not allowing to build dams.

.
India and Afghanistan are actively exploring run-of-the river projects on Afghanistan’s eastern rivers.

Of particular interest is river Kabul, Times of India said in a report quoting senior Indian officials, speaking off record.

River Kabul has some features identical to River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir, including similar recorded average flow of around 23 million acre feet and is trying to persuade Afghanistan to build run of the river projects over it.

In retaliation to Uri attacks, India had upped the ante by giving the go-ahead to three run of-the-river projects on river Chenab. These had earlier been put on hold due to objections raised by Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty.

Indian officials claim that Pakistan does not have any treaty with Afghanistan. The rules governing flows of Afghanistan’s eastern rivers, mainly Kabul, Kunnar and Chitral, into Pakistan are just some internationally accepted principles.

“By helping Afghanistan build some of these run-of-the-river projects, India will end up sending a very strong signal to Pakistan. So we need to examine the fallout closely,” an official familiar with the issue said.

When Afghan President Mohammed Ashraf Ghani visited India last month, officials said, he specifically raised the possibility of developing Afghanistan’s eastern river system while conveying gratitude on India completing the Salma dam project despite serious terror threats.

The two sides are in touch on this subject, said officials, adding that quiet official-level deliberations and visits are underway to discuss specific projects. Ghani is slated to be back in India in December first week to inaugurate the Heart of Asia ministerial meet on Afghanistan in Amritsar.

Ultimately Kabul with come back where it belongs to. We'll see for how long Indians can manage Afghans to rival Pakistan. Signs are already coming out. Look at the interview
of Afghan ambassador in Islamabad

In the meantime, we'll keep eliminating Indian stray dogs in Afghanistan. There is a report today that one such dog (Captain Pawan Kumar code name Asmat Ullah Mehsud) was eliminated in Afghanistan a few days ago.

So india is telling Afghanistan what to do and took control of Afghan foreign policy.

Now Pakistan should let india spend money to build this dam. Just before completion while indians are working on the dam, send half a dozen cruise missile and let indian money and dream go up on smoke. That would be quite a lesson for both. Since it is on Afghan soil, india can not do JACK and do not have any diplomatic or ther ground to stand on.

At the moment we are more keen on hunting stray dogs that ventured out of their slums. No need for cruise or any other missiles. Waste of resources! Just bullets are doing the job.

.
it is not new project. India is funding and helping a number of dams in Afghanistan for this sole purpose for the last few years

.
usual dirty game by india. they are already controlling and diverting our rivers. what else we can expect from a coward enemy.

So much aggression behind keyboards let us not threaten Afghan with ballistic missiles yet :)

No one is blocking any rivers towards Pakistan, dams will be made based on international treaties in mind, actually Pakistan and Afghanistan had initial talks on jointly creating dam on the Kunar river.

PTI chairman Pervaiz Khattak must be happy right now.

That's true face of Afghanistan. No wonder why neighborly nations like Iran, Central Asia [nations] don't trust Afghanistan.
