there should be a parade by civil defence, organized activities by community and as well by schools and union councils and other govt dep which invite the local community.
Organised activities by community .................... I don't know if any of those really happen anywhere in Pakistan. Idea of civilian departments is good in particular the union councils, they can arrange events with the help of common Pakistanis, and it would be lot better than to ride and make noise pollution on silencer less bikes.
And it should not be a Public holiday for schools and colleges, the ones closed for summer vacations should open for this one day and call in their teachers and students to organise activities at school level.
Or at least if Government declares it to be a Public holiday, then may be union councils can be advised to guide the local people and children to clean the streets and garbage spread everywhere. "Saf Saf Pakistan"
@Color_Less_Sky just take him out and show him the Pakistan
I mean no offense but what normally happens on independence day these days is not something that I want my kids to learn and celebrate that way. Nonetheless your idea is something that I had in mind someday INSHALLAH when they are old enough and I live to see the day I plan to take them out to show them all shades of Pakistan, from Northern Areas to Oceans.
@Color_Less_Sky First of all If you have a 3 years old son, then how come you're old and getting older? I mean, in ideal condition you should be nearing 30 or something, no? I have a 2.5 years old son, and I'm barely 30.
He is the middle one of my kids and a shy one
, I am 36 years old and face a situation where I cannot sit in gathering of Uncles way too serious talk for me and never listen to what I say as they believe I am immature to participate in that discussion
, and cannot enjoy the younger cousins gathering they start behaving in my presence
And I agree, first of all dress your kid with green & white on 14th august, kids love it. Last year I bought a dress for him, that had Jinnah's and Pak Flag picture on the shit. This year I have a stitched shalwar qameez for him (green shrit and white shalwar) for 14th August.
This is a good idea that I hadn't thought of I will look for ready made clothing, you are lucky to have it stitched because my badtameez darzi refuses every time to stitch anything for children.
Next, take your kids to some national monument on 14th August. Here in Lahore we have Minar-e-Pakistan which is best for this purpose.
That I plan to do INSHALLAH when all of them get old enough to understand the importance and gain knowledge from visiting these places.
BTW, great to see you're keen on transferring this important thing i.e. patriotism to your kids.
Its inbuilt in every Pakistani
Well on every independence day i just a put a Pakistani flag on my rooftop.
As your son will grow up tell him why the creation of this country was necessary because that,s the question our youth need to know. And don,t forget to show him the pitiful condition of indian muslims.
Also tell him the real history after doing some research not the distorted one ,the one which includes excellent people like MA Jinnah and awful characters like genral zia ul haq who made this country a hell hole.
The Flag what is the correct direction of it if you know about it? Left? Right?
The history is not my strong area (and you know why, never went to a university and never had that time to read lots of history books), but what I believe in is Pakistan with so many scars and wounds if stands today that is for a reason, if Pakistanis are so resilient that they come out smiling after every tragedy that is for a reason, I may not be able to understand that but this much I know what Pakistan faced and survived anyone else cannot. I am thankful to ALLAH and grateful to our forefathers for making a free country happen for us and for generations to come. May it prosper and grow stronger every second. Ameen.
