Incredible India: Indian Flights Are The Cheapest in The World

Air India is offering all domestic flight tickets in just 100 rupees ie roughly 1.8 dollars from 27th to 31st August. hell this is record cheap.

Don't get taken in by Re 100.00

When booking when you check the breakdown of the ticket cost , the ticket cost is about 50 % , the rest is surcharges, air port taxes etc which the airline pays to either the oil company / airport.

Those remain with the Re 100.00 tkt

Well I am aware of that fact. but anyway It still is very cheap. from Mumbai to Lucknow there is tax about 3000 rupees and even add 100 more in it then its still just 3100 which must be cheapest in the world for similar distance.

Probably the only country where aviation fuel price is less than that of normal petrol.....

@Topic, Second AC ticket from Cochin chennai is 1500 rupee, and you might get a flight ticket at 2200 from cochin to chennai.....

Many Indian air lines such as Air India, Spice Jet and Indigo may offer such cheap flights but Jet Airways does not deal in such crappy deals. It is the best airlines in India. Simply amazing and better than BA and Virgin IMO.

Now may be the time to fly in India as air tickets in the South Asian nation are the cheapest in the world thanks to cutthroat competition, according to a global transportation survey.

In India it costs just $10.20 on average to travel 100 kilometers on a commercial flight, according to the survey by GoEuro, a Berlin-based travel search website. That’s around half the cost of flying in China and less than one thirteenth the cost of flying in the most expensive country, Finland, where it costs $136.83 to fly the same distance.

Despite high fuel costs and airport fees, airlines in India are selling fares at prices that are often below cost. As they try desperately to grow market share almost all of them are losing money.

Air fares in India are so inexpensive that it is now cheaper to travel by air than take the train, according to the survey, which said a 100-kilometer train journey costs $11.31. A bus journey for the same distance costs $5.66.

Malaysia is the second cheapest country in the world to travel by air, costing an average of $11.26 for 100 kilometers. South Africa is ranked third least expensive at $11.46, according to the survey of 51 countries in five continents by GoEuro.

On the pricey side, Switzerland — where it costs $123.20 to fly 100 kilometers — is the second most expensive. Lithuania is third-most expensive for the same distance.

The competition to dominate the Indian skies has increased in recent months with the start of flights of a new budget airline backed by Malaysia’s AirAsia BhD, Tata Sons Ltd. and India’s Telestra Tradeplace Pvt.

I wish flights were that cheap in Japan... :(

Indian airports are cheap too (not too mention lack of aesthetics). With 40 degree Celsius outside, they use fans instead of ACs to bring both heat and cost down. You get what you pay for, though!

Service ranges from good to very good IMHO. Indigo is one of the world's top-rated LCCs; legacy carrier Jet Airways is top class, and the service on board national carrier Air India's domestic flights is pretty good too, in my experience.

For a immigrant Bangladeshi...you are far too ignorant.

I hope you have actually been to your mosquito infested, toilet smell stinking shit hole!
The only good thing about Hazrat Shahjalal Airport is the dirt cheap alcohol (Cheaper by $5 for $30+ brands):bunny:
