It’s what you use now. When I joined this forum in 2014 all you cared about was nominal GDP. No one gave a sh*t China surpassed the US in PPP in 2014. Back then Chinese were predicting Chinas nominal GDP to grow 2-4X US GDP.

Now that China won’t surpass US nominal GDP, the PPP little pinks come out of the woodwork.

You are right that we do care about GDP but not as much as you think. People on PDF nowadays consider you the ’cringe GDP guy‘, juggling between sections posting similar thread every Thursday. if there is a church of nominal GDP then no doubt you will be the pope.

No, you just can’t handle the new reality. That China is increasingly unlikely to surpass the US economy, and the US will remain the preeminent economic power until the Sun envelops the Earth.

Now you have to cope with that, cherry pick statistics, and come up with every excuse in the book for your shortcomings. A country with 4X the US population and still can’t surpass the US. Pathetic

If China economy in PPP doesn't matter then how is China able to produce so much weaponry, in terms of numbers of planes, ships etc, China is catching up to the USA. Usa may have 800B defence budget but China 300B budget is similar to the USA because they produce everything at a low cost, from materials, salary etc.

The difference i see is Usa is a world super power with powerful allies. China has trading partners but not many alliances. This is how Usa continues to be the super power. If tomorrow Japan, S Korea, India and other back away, then Usa will be finished in Asia.

Can someone explain, I am just asking a question.

China can produce a lot of equipment, the Soviets also did the same. At the height of the Cold War the Soviets had a 650 ship Navy, over 50,000 tanks, tens of thousands of nuclear warheads. It didn’t matter because the US offset those advantages with Assault Breaker technologies.

Unless you can conduct a system by system analysis, accessing all US classified defense systems and their capabilities, and come to the conclusion China has the exact same capability as the US military at a cheaper price then your point is moot.

Thanks for explanation and I am sure we all agree Usa advance technology is unmatched around the world, their skills, readiness, training, experience is above all.

China may not be there yet but they are working really hard to close the gap. Their quantity is very close, the quality side is improving aswell.

Regarding Usa high tech weaponry, I believe Usa is way more advanced than it claims, but China is also working on many secret projects to catch up. Overall China is doing a remarkable job.
