IN to induct 95 new warships in 10 years.

Old news but great news.IN is really doing far better than other two services.But only thing I didn't like is the idea of procuring six entire new SSKs under project P 75A.Instead it would have been far economical to increase the order of Scorpene SSKs.There is no need to induct two differt type of SSKs,no navy in their sane mind would do this mistake.Can't figure out what IN is thinking!!

Well IN wants the most potent and capable platforms they can procure so it makes sense that they would look for a new design especially as the P-75 deal started back in 2005 and the first isn't likely till 2015, 10 years is a big space in modern defence solutions.

Not exactly correct... The SSNs that IN is planning to induct over the next two decades can be fraught with delays and involve tremendous challenges in terms of matching capabilities of their counterparts.. It is thus necessary for an intermediary step between the scorpene and arihant/ssns... which is capable of supporting all the advancements that DRDO/IN will make during this time eg brahmos/advanced torpedoes/nirbhays etc with vertical launch capability..

the scorpene subs although quite advanced but is no where near their western counterparts in terms of offensive capabilities..

The only reason was AIP, the current french Scorpene AIP is not a prooven platform yet. Else they would have gone for 6 more scorpenes.

Well,the PN Agosta 90Bs have been fitted with French Mesma AIP.So Scorpenes can also be fitted with them.But it will be even better if DRDO manages to develop the phosphoric acid cell based AIP fast enough to fit into the SSKs.But choosing two different types of SSKs is never a good idea-it will create immense logistical burden on IN like it is facing now with its Russian Sindhughosh (Kilo) class and German Type 209 class SSKs.It seems that IN hasn't learnt any lesson from its past mistake and is going to repeat the same blunder once again.

2nd,HSL Vishakhapattanam has been taken over by MoD and now is solely a defense ship yard-this too will help the bring up the number of warships can be built per year.

You need a lot many things to learn new chap.
What do you mean by 'western' counterparts??Isn't France a western country as per you??

Do you know the exact capabilities and comparative advantages and disadvantages between AIP equipped Scorpenes and other SSKs??If not then stop your bs.
Arihant is not a SSN,it's a SSBN.
Lastly,you have got no idea how much logistical problem is IN facing due to operating two different types of SSKs.

Still not a good enough point at all.IN should Customise the Scorpene (like IAF did to Su 30MKI) if they are so much worried about technnlogy obsolecence.But commonality should be the utmost priority over anything else to ease up maintainance and logistics.

That's not totally correct, only the first one or two ship of the class will be made abroad rest will be made in Indian shipyards.

Only the 6 subs with AIP will build here, rest of all patrol vessels(Sri Lanka), LPDs(France), Tankers(no idea) and frigates(Russia) will be build as Indian yards are already full with orders. I will try to find sources.

Nah,frigates will be built in Indian shipyards.Of 7 Project P 17A stealth frigates 4 will be built in MDL and 3 will be constructed in GRSE through moduler construction method for which these two shipyards are going through extencive modernisation and upgradation.

Building a large navy makes sense with local industrial capability.

China, Russia, and USA can build their own ships. It makes sense for these nations to maintain large naval force.

Now a days,ToT is kind of mandatory to every arms purchase deal india signes.So we can be quite sure about the ToT issue.
By the way,India too have quite a booming ship building industry,so no need to worsy about maintainance.

Sri Lanka does not make our patrol boats man, it is the other way round
