In Peshawar, state of denial over market attack culprits

I ran into a cab driver a few days ago who belongs to the Waziristan Mehsud region.

I asked him why his tribal 'cousins' like Hakimullah and co. are busy killing pakistanis.

His reply captured the essence of the warped logic employed by the TTP terrorists and their brainwashed supporters.

He told me that they are fighting the Americans who are attacking them with drones. I asked him why they are not fighting the Americans in Afghanistan, instead of killing pakistanis.

He paused for a second, and then explained that the TTP is fighting the paksitani government because it is not helping the taliban fight the americans.

I then asked him: " Why are the TTP thugs killing ordinary pakistanis including civlians, policemen, and blowing up markets and schools??"

He casually explains that "Ordinary pakistanis are a legitimate target because they are not pressuring the government to stop the US and help the TTP, and thus are indirectly complicit in the US actions against the TTP".

Clearly the guy is not familiar with the concept of cognitive reasoning!...

I told him:" I hope your 'cousins' in TTP reconsider their mind boggling logic or else we are going to kill them all." He grinned and replied.. " You will see..no one can defeat the TTP".

I think this guy is indicative of the level of indoctrination existing within the Mehsud tribe - a sad state of affairs.

Personally, I think that you are far safer as a muslim living in the "Christian" west than I shall be as a christian catholic living in Pakistan. Guess that's just my opinion though, eh?

I think you've been very unfair here.

Wrong thing. Unless you can't be in Pakistan physically, you can't presume things hermetically.

Personally, as I've been living in West for years, for studies though, I think I'm much safer in my homeland, Pakistan, than UK or any other Western Country or any other country than my own country.

I agree to what you're trying to make me understand. But, what I'm trying to make you understand is, you can't stop the perpetuating discrimination in case of Muslims in the West, let's say U.S. The very prima facie example is Major Nidal. It's this same prejudice and discrimination that Nidal reported to his relatives that made him so crazy -- crazy enough to kill. However, I oppose the act of Nidal, anyway.
