air power is crucial for this. since india has half a century of carrier experiance, its IN hands down.

besides, PLAN as an entity is untested

Right now? Neither the PLAN nor the IN. In terms of airpower, PLAN does not yet have an operational carrier. IN's Harriers of which we do not even have a squadron (maybe 10 or 12 left) are too few to make any impact, despite the Derby A2AMs, they would be outnumbered hugely and cut down. A distance of 5000 KMs means that the shore based fighters can't participate even with restfullers. In terms of surface combatants, both the navies have enough assets to achieve the task, it is airpower projection they lack.
