Another statue of Lenin has been pulled down by activists in Ukraine, this time in the Pridneprovskiy residential area of Dnipropetrovsk, local online newspaper Litsa has reported.

According to the report, about 15 people toppled the statue of the Communist leader in less than an hour, using a rope and an UAZ off-road vehicle.

The activists set up a Ukrainian flag in place of the statue.

This is the third such statue to be removed in the city in the past year or so: A large memorial to Lenin was earlier removed, this time by the city authorities, on June 27 last year. Workers used a crane to hoist a massive stone Lenin head off its plinth, and the head was then transported to a local museum.

Before that, on the night of February 21-22, a statue of Lenin on Dnipropetrovsk’s central square met a less dignified fate when it was torn down and hacked to pieces by pro-Ukrainian activists.

Ukraine has seen a spate of Lenin statue toppling since last year’s ouster of the pro-Russian former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, and Russia’s subsequent annexation of the Ukrainian territory of Crimea and fomenting of an anti-government insurgency in the east of the country.

In other incidents, Lenin statues have been daubed with paint in Ukraine’s blue and yellow national colors, or dressed in traditional vyshyvanka embroidered shirts.

War is going on still even after the ceasefire deal and i know its not good to disrespect state heads and national flags. on 7th April in Kharkiv explosive was detonated next to the Ukrainian flag in the city centre.

Buddy, Russian civilization started from Kievan region. Ukraine was not even a separate country for most of its part. Whether the Russian empire or USSR, they are essentially the same people except some western Romanians and others who are not really Ukrainians.

Turchynov: Ukraine has evidence of FSB involvement in Maidan shootings
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has said that Ukraine has evidence of Russian involvement in the Maidan shootings.

"The orders were, in fact, given by [former Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych through [former Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy] Zakharchenko, through [former Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Oleksandr] Yakymenko, meaning the leaders of the Interior Ministry and SBU. Moreover, the SBU has evidence that high ranking officials from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) fully consulted with them," Turchynov said in an interview with 1+1 TV channel.

According to Turchynov, a group of FSB officers who had trained with the Alfa special forces group was operating in Ukraine at that time.

"Moreover, the SBU has worked [on the possibility] that the known snipers who started shooting [at Maidan activists during protest rallies in 2014], are also representatives of Russian structures," he added.
