Imran threatens to dissolve K-P Assembly
By News Desk
Published: June 25, 2014

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Tuesday said his party could take to the streets if justice was denied to them, and that he will announce its timeframe at Bahawalpur rally.

He said he could dissolve the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and join hands with PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri for revolution in pursuit of justice.

Giving interview to Express News anchor Shahzaib Khanzada on his show, To The Point, Imran said he agreed with 80% of Qadri’s ideas but disagreed with his methodology.

He said his party too would come out to protest if its rigging complaints were not taken seriously and re-elections were not ordered in four constituencies of the National Assembly.

“I have tried to settle the matter through dialogue but if the government does not take action we will be forced to protest”.

Imran said his party had always tried to work for the interests of the people. “I am not afraid of anyone. If Dr Qadri is right we will support him.”

In response to a question, Imran said that Dr Qadri had rightly predicted the last time that elections would not be transparent.

“It was our fault, we admit. We relied on former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to hold free and fair elections but he did not come up to our expectations,” he said.

Talking about the ongoing military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, against militants in North Waziristan, he claimed that the federal government had not informed the Khyber-Pakhtunkwa (K-P) government beforehand which had led to further chaos amongst theinternally displaced people (IDPs).

“They should have let the people prepare for the operation. No one was prepared. Even the K-P chief minister was informed after the operation had begun.”

Imran insisted that the military operation will have its repercussions which the government will have to face in the coming days when the militants carry out their counter attacks.

Blaming the government for the chaos, he said that despite the fact the government did not inform the K-P, the provincial government had supported their step and taken measures to facilitate them.

Criticising the Punjab government, the PTI chief said that other provinces were readily accepting the IDPs but the province which had the most resources was turning them away.

To another question, Imran claimed that the previous government was better than the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

“The PML-N has worsened the situation in this one year of their governance. They have hiked the power tariffs, and have just added to the staggering amount of loans.”

Military operation?

Nawaz left the couuntry after 1 day of military operation. Instead of letting Qadri in the country peacfully, he used police to brutalize him and mkae him bigger than he could have been.

Wheile the leadership comes from the ruling party, the ruling party of two brothers instead chose to open petty political front with Qadri. Qadri was a non-issue if left untouched. Nawaz govt should have concentrated on uniting the nation for the operation. We all know it did not. ITs not a legitimate govt so cant be expected to make just decisions.

Actually the nervousness of the ovt in dealing with Qadri shows how weak this govt is and how weak will it become in the coming days. Their five year term is constitutional, not ordained by the Creator. They should go if they must.

Dictatorship of idiot brothers no longer acceptable.

I watched the interview and he said less than what is mentioned in the article.

his argument was: if PTI's demand of opening up of those 4 seats is not met then PML-N implicitly acknowledges electoral rigging. Under this scenario, the assemblies are meaningless. Further to this, he said that there is no point in contesting future elections if electoral reforms are not carried out. Therefore it will be better to come on the street to force the electoral reforms before any future elections even if it means that the present govt has to be thrown out.

Fukk Pak Army, so punjabi and Sindhi will not Allow IDP in to their province, well legally they can't do do that but let them, we wouldn't want a drop of water if we was dying from them.

We just need to block all entry points to KPK and Baluchistan and shut down all dams and gas supply and just watch the show.

We always knew who our brothers are and as expected they are Baluch but that's natural because they are our kind our blood.

and what will this accomplish? What will happen? If they leave KPK govt new elections will be held on the resigned seats and with PTI not contesting on them N will win. If the entire opposition unites they still dont hold the majority needed to break a govt. N right now has 2/3 majority. Its not a joke whether they got it by hook or crook they have it. The strength of resignation was in N hands when the 2008 govt was in power bcz the opposition was strong and the federal was a combined govt of PPP and N however PTI does not possess that majority to shake things up so severely that the govt will dissolve.

TBH there arent many methods to tackle a 2/3 majority govt. The best thing to do is focus on the KPK province and spend the next four years trying to pass electoral reforms for the next election and combine them there. Surely if the opposition unite for electoral reforms they can make sure a few bills reforming electoral methods can be passed.

Besides IK knows that mass resignation is not the solution as it wont have that desired effect otherwise he would have done it the first time he talked abt election rigging.,

At this point the last thing we need is political instability and sadly N,Qadri and IK all are making sure that doesnt happen. Poor from all three TBH.
