Imran Khan's UN speech was an utter embarrassment

Regrettably, whilst the speech was great (outstanding in fact), it had no conclusive effect. The Kashmir absorption by India remains and the poor Kashmiris live as they have been for more than a month now. Under brutal curfew

Well toilets are a big issue in India.

Correction in the OP...PM IK UN speech was an utter embarrassment for India.

Some more synonyms:

An utter disappointment for India,

An failure for India.

The simple point is Indians would have been calling the speech good if PM IK hasn't dissected and thrown out the fake facade of secular pluralism, the tolerance which India shows to the world. Thanks to Modi and the fascists that thin fake veneer of tolerance is all but gone from India.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

"Torontosun".....the same newspaper that employes Tarek Fatah, mind you. A right-wing, anti-Muslim tabloid.

Imran Khan's speech was embarrassing for sure-----but only for india and Modi. He literally HUMILIATED India infront of the world....

His speech got THE HIGHEST views on entire list of UN speeches for 2019 UNGA session.

This is an overstatement.

Don't stay in your echo chambers.

It was a good speech. But it had little effect on non Muslim nations. Only three Muslim nations have agreed to come together, so that's a plus. On the other hand, the almost begging tone of Khan was unfortunate. You are a nuclear power. You have the support of 2 billion people. You should never appear weak.

.
That only belongs to Modi...huh.

IK should have been talking about toilets and Mahan RSS.
well, IK speech is like alien to RSSed society and it has nothing to do with BJP walas at all....
Modi is also a pompous buffoon.

you sound very intelligent bro!!

what rss school did you go to? did you wear safroni topi sheilding your precious brain from non hindutava opinions?

:)

I dont think embarrassment is the right word. I think it was 'Painful' for Indians and a moment of delight for Pakistanis. You could use the word 'embarrassment' if Pakistan did not appreciate I.K for his speech. The only one you are embarrassing is yourself because of the constant rhetoric of terrorism and shaming Pakistan which is now become a story that no one is buying.

Leftist didn't need convincing. States and leaders did.

If you think that Pak has any locus standi to speak from a moral pulpit and lecture, then you are living in a fool's paradise.

I am saying the exact opposite: that India doesn't have that either. India has bought into the West's hypocrisy of blaming Pakistan for state-sponsored terror while turning a blind eye to India's illustrious history (and present) sponsorship of terror (Tamil, Baloch, etc etc.)

Wake up. It's better for everyone.

India has earned Goodwill thru its soft power - the yoga, Gandhi, Bollywood etc.

There are 2 aspects to what India has done in Kashmir -

1. The clampdown on personal freedoms - and yes the world is concerned. With or without IK it would be concerned. Same way as they are concerned about the Uighurs.

2. The changing of the legal status of Kashmir. No one cares. They see it as an internal matter of India.

Again, you're falling for your own myths!

India has earned it based on its huge middle class which is a huge market for Western products, for its defense need which, again, are a huge market for Western weapons and because it's the only way the West can try and slow China's inevitable rise in the region.

We can agree to disagree --- but I think it's the above that matters.

We know the West doesn't give a **** about who it's in bed with as long as the partner is serving their greater interests in the region. From Saudi Arabia to India, it willingly turns a blind eye to issues when it wants to do business and/or when it needs to prop a country up to counter another country.

It even overlooked Pakistan's issues when it needed us during the Afghan Wars --- military dictators, previously sanctioned, were suddenly reliable allies and trusted friends. Do you think that was because of "soft power" or because of their own geostrategic interests?

I rest my case.

Imran Khan is certainly doing something right to embarrass right-wing cvnts and RSS Nazi's in front of the whole world LOL

LOL torontosun LMAO

Speech was for his domestic audience.

It wasn't. It was for the world audience and it made a huge impact.

India is being scolded by major human rights organizations across the world. Reputable Western media sources are holding India accountable for caging 8 million people.

The author of the article is as follows:

Farzana Hassan

A fervent anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan hater that ranks among people like Tarek Fatah.

Don't believe me? Have a look at her Twitter feed:

And these 'leftists' are the ruling elites in Western world....whether its media, politics, or cultural institutions.

Elizabeth Warren just tweeted today about human rights violations in Kashmir. Sanders have already stated the same in even harsher terms. Jeremy Corbyn and Labor party in UK even passed the resolution for UN-backed solution on Kashmir.

The whole point of diplomatic blitz was to bring attention of the world to india's 370 debacle in Kashmir. And it has been successful beyond expectations actually. ALL major media houses constantly reported on it, topic of Hindu nationalism and their anti-Muslim bigotry was raised again, and again, and again in publications like Foreign Policy, NY Times, Reuters, Al Jazeera, Economist, and so on. Imran Khan's speech successfully linked Modi and RSS to bigoted views.

The issue has been raised in the public conscience of the world successfully. That's all a diplomatic effort was supposed to do.

Remember, all of this is happening on something that is not a big deal at all. india made some legal changes in a territory that it de facto controls since 40's. It wasn't supposed to be like this :D (Protests and agitation has not even begun yet and the issue has been registered in the conscience of global community, media, public, and elites more so than it has ever been in past many decades).

Now compare this to world's reaction on CPEC running through Azad Kashmir? Nothing.

Even though CPEC is a bigger strategic change in the disputed region than 370 revocation.
