India is not pitched against anyone easily.
Though i accept your point that he might be trying to put India in the spotlight.
All countries face pressure from superpowers but how you tackle the pressure is what defines your country.
Do you change your PM on the behest of outsiders or do you accept sanctions ?
India has one of the worst voting records against usa in the UN.

Problem is that the absolute basic foundation of democracies like free and fair elections, democratic processes like NCV and independence of elected officials is sorely lacking in Pakistan.
Vajpayee was a very popular leader but he lost in elections and also lost a NCV by 1 vote.
