One should also ponder as to why Gen Bajwa even felt comfortable advising a sitting PM on political appointments. He was obviously ceded this space to offer this opinion. Why and in return for what? My friend, the establishment itself has said that they were involved in the 2017 elections through various channels as they were in the previous ones - hint - the catharsis point. So my statement about scratching the back was in light of that disclosure (Shuja Nawaz's recent interview also alluded to that). I am not doubting that PTI cannot win a very respectable and lean majority on their own, rather that PTI/IK leaned on the establishment and they did the same.

The next part may come across more direct (and I say this while definitely preferring PTI over PDM) and it is my observation that whereas PML/PPP performance in their times was an "F" with occasional A's and B's, PTI tenure was a solid C with some A's like the response to Covid. So if it makes people feel better that PTI was marginally better, so be it, but I think a lot more needs to be done. I get it that PTI needs to be given the benefit of doubt since they were prematurely sent packing, the other side says about PML rule as well.

The Army leadership has engaged in constitutional violations, blackmail, extortion and manipulation of the judiciary, law enforcement, media and politicians for decades, and every so often a 'new leadership' bathes in the Ganga and proclaims that NOW the Army will abide by the constitution blah blah blah.

Until the Army as an institution publicly apologizes for all the crimes and treason it has committed against the country almost since independence, and mandates teaching its officer corps about those crimes under Ayub, Yahya, Zia, Musharraf and Bajwa, there is no reason to believe that anything has changed.

Once Mir Bajwa had made full back-door give-and-take arrangement and settlement with NS; he started creating rift with IK, making different excuses. Buzdar was one of those excuses. It is as clear, as it can be. Now Najam Sethi is telling that Bajwa had made plans against IK in 2019, which only got adjourned because of COVID.

A public apology will be just more lies. Retrospectively put them all on trial, take away all the awarded privileges including pensions, plots etc. and teach ALL, not just the military, about them as traitors, including changing their titles to Ghaddar General. By Law. Oh, and mandate the death penalty by firing squad for any military person going against the Constitution.

The only problem is that it will never happen.
