Khan Sb you have the entire might of the Provincial Government behind you. The entire police force of KP is under you. How about you initiate reforms in the Police Department and make it a force to be reckoned with. I know it is hard but you have to start somewhere. Instead of giving out conflicting statements against the TTP, come out once and declare the TTP 'Enemies of the State'. When your CM says in his statement' We want to give TTP respect', how do you think it makes an average constable or a soldier feel. Do you expect them to sacrifice their lives? It is not the job of the Army to protect a jail. The police as an institution should be strong and competent enough to fulfill their duty.

For the record i am a PTI supporter, but these latest antics of PTI and its inability to initiate any major reforms in KP is slowly pushing me back towards PML-N.

PESHAWAR: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a suspected “Punjabi Taliban” commander involved in Dera Ismail Khan jailbreak last week, DawnNews reported.

According to official sources, the suspected militant, identified as Mujahid Ahmed alias Faqeer Baba has been arrested in injured condition.

Pakistani Taliban insurgents had freed nearly 250 inmates, including 35 ‘high-profile militants’, during a brazen overnight attack on the central jail in Dera Ismail Khan on July 30.

The suspect has revealed that planning of the jailbreak was carried out in South Waziristan, said the sources. He has been taken to an undisclosed location for further interrogation, they added.

Government is investigating possible al Qaeda involvement in a major jailbreak in the DI Khan that freed nearly 250 prisoners, security officials said Monday. Dozens of heavily-armed militants last week stormed a prison in Dera Ismail Khan, close to tribal areas on the Afghan border, in a well-co-ordinated assault that left 13 dead.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility. But on Saturday global police agency Interpol said it suspected al Qaeda was involved in the raid and in other prison breaks in eight countries, including Iraq and Libya. Al Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban have close ties - extremists from the global terror network have hideouts in Pakistan's tribal areas - and a senior security official told AFP the link was under scrutiny in the jailbreak probe.

"Involvement of al Qaeda is one the factors that we cannot rule out at the moment," the official said on condition of anonymity. He said "such attacks are always carried out with involvement of two type of groups, one which plans and the other which executes". The Dera Ismail Khan breakout came a week after militants stormed two prisons in Iraq, freeing at least 500 inmates including senior al Qaeda leaders.

"Jailbreak is something that requires a lot of planning and is not an easy task. Now we have to determine who were the planners, facilitators and operators", said the official. The Central Prison in Dera Ismail Khan can hold up to 5,000 inmates and around 300 were being held in connection with attacks on security forces and sectarian killings.

"One thing is very clear: that all those who took part in the jailbreak were highly trained and the pattern of the attack shows they had come for the attack with proper planning," another security official said. A senior government official in Peshawar, the main city in the north-west, told AFP: "Apparently the plan was prepared in Waziristan tribal district and preliminary information suggests that al Qaeda helped in preparing the jailbreak plan." "However, we are working on it and a final report will be prepared soon". North Waziristan is one of the seven tribal districts and a major focus of militant activity.

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak alleged on Monday that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman was trying to spread misconceptions about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
Talking to the press in Nowshera, Khattak said, “Imran Khan is working hard to restore peace in the region and to end foreign influence.”
Khattak said that by calling Imran a Jewish agent, Rehman was trying to instigate the Taliban against PTI so that it will make peace talks between them difficult.
“Fazlur Rehman wants turmoil and militancy to prevail in the region,” said Khattak, adding that it was up to the nation to decide who is the Jewish agent.
Khattak said that JUI-F chief had become a political figure instead of being a religious one and asserted that PTI will never let him come in power in K-P.
He further said that Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were also trying to instigate hatred against PTI.
