I am ready to not pay my bills if WAPDA wont cut electricity supply to my house. By the way whats the electricity of bill of your house?. Ours was eleven thousands and we dont have even an Air conditioner.

As you may have seen, one guy is implying that it is IK's mass appeal that he is getting away with things. I don't think so. I think the two most popular leaders who pulled huge crowds from Karachi to Khyber in their days were Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. But they were never 'immune' from consequences of their acts of omission and commission. And that's because certain powers in the country were not going to allow BB/ZAB their ways.

I remember when BB landed in Pakistan in 1986--those were the days of high hopes and even wilder and larger crowds. She immediately won hearts the country over--a country sick of Zia's rule. Long story short, Zia dead soon afterward, BB getting more courage, deciding to up the ante. But a stern reply came from President Ishaq: 'Do not test the power of the State'; almost certainly on behalf of the Army.

But in case of Imran Khan he has virtual immunity from his actions. And that kind of protection given to a lifelong spoilt brat and bully from younger days only emboldens people like him of mighty egos and puny brains. I bet if he were to shut down the airports even then he could get away with that!

That would make your rates around $0.12 - 0.15 per kwh. A bit more than I pay, but a lot less than NYC. Given there is very little fossil fuel production in Pakistan, this sounds reasonable, actually. If your paying much less than that, you have subsidized power. If the subsidy is going away, need to talk to your government and raise taxes or something.

There is no comparison between Pakistani electricity and American electricity charges. A guy above paid Rs. 26,000 for one month--roughly $260 but actually, in terms of PPP (i.e Purchase Power Parity) about $750-1000--even after bare minimum use. I know the atrocious charges my family pays in Karachi--sometimes approx. Rs. 70,000/month. I pay only about $250 for my American home of 1300 sq foot IF I cool/warm the house to perfection--otherwise, I generally pay $140/month in peak season heat/cold. I am in the South though.

The electricity charges are highway robbery in Pakistan. But the way IK is escalating the situation is to somehow provoke another 'Model Town'. The loser has lost the war but is trying to get the 3rd parties involved.

This energy crisis won't be resolved by sucking the remaining whatever blood left of Pakistani public. First they haven't fixed any load shedding or power cuts. Secondly, the bills are doubled. What the heck? In any other country, citizens would be on the street 24/7. This nation is too stubborn like donkeys to tolerate any unjust. IK is not let this happen anymore.
