And let Taliban and Al Queda run rampant without any hindrance? Would it be a good idea if Bin Laden and Zawahiri were still around to plan and execute their activities?

There were no Taliban animosity against the US before the WOT started by her, the US attacks actually gave them the reason to fight against the invading, occupying forces and all the different faction there got united and that gave them the impetus for Jihad, the holy war.

Ironically, the US which earlier was supporting them and calling them holy warriors when they fought against the Soviets suddenly, overnight turned them into Terrorists, this hypocrisy by US and the invasion did to them what exactly was done to Soviets, different reasons same result, and with an emboldened and much powerful Talibans with about 20 years of war against the US, total of 40 years if the war against the USSR is included.

hypocrisy by US
The turnaround happened due to 9/11 and other Al Queda terrorist activities, and Taliban giving them shelter. If you harbor a big criminal in your house, police will not be nice to you.

Taliban had a government, the first one which was accepted by the US, and they asked for proof of OBL involvement in 9/11, and the presence of Alqaeda.

BTW there is a very strong concept in Afghanistan and Tribal areas that they will defend to death anyone who seeks sanctuary amongst them, then it became a question of pride and abiding by the word given to the person seeking safe sanctuary. They will jeolously guard their visitor or Mehman, to death.

It's a tribal tradition which US again didn't knew, just as she missed on Aghanistan called 'the graveyards of the empires'.

This is what US thought of Talibans, the first govt., so a complete shift in policy out of arrogance/vested interest was not that sagacious.

When the visitor is a fugitive from law, giving him refuge becomes a crime in most places. A law abiding and moral person has a duty to turn in a fugitive to law enforcement.

It's idiotic to think that India won't support any group that is destabilising Pakistan

But TTP at its core is still a product of certain pockets of our society. And it has a large support base between religious folks who want Sharia Law and dislike the Pakistani governments as well as Pashtun nationalists.

What's funny is the amount of protests in KPK and they are blaming the army for TTP - do they genuinely believe their people don't support the TTP, do they genuinely believe their people don't provide manpower and housing to the TTP?

Either they are severely disconnected from reality with a victim complex, or they are well aware and they have a different goal

TTP is not one big homogenous, monolithic group, there are many splinter smaller groups or factions who works independently and joins together at their requirement.

Splinter, smaller factions or even a individial suicide bomber can be hired without the tacit approval of the main TTP. And that TTP main has denied they carried the Peshawar police line suicide bomb blast which killed more than 100 people and with 90 of them the KPK policemen.

Yes the TTP and Afghan Talibs have somehow similar ideology, but they, the Afghan govt. is not willing to settle the 40,000 something TTP people there who are from Pakistan, FATA.

And ideally dialogue and separating the hardcore terrorists from them should be the task.

The extravagance and the splurges from a poor country with barely 1700 USD per annum income, one reason people don't pay taxes is they emulate the high-end people lifestyle and/or they don't trust the govt. plus the govt. is not using the tax money for them like Education, health are all in private sector, and the housing which is not affordable for the masses, an elite capture for the few is a third world idea.
