Imran claims PSL 3 will be staged under PTI govt

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that next Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be staged during the tenure of PTI’s government, adding that the entire tournament would be staged in Pakistan, not just the final.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of Insaf Super League, he said, “Quality cricketers of the world would play in the league, not relu katas (third-class or useless).”

A video of Imran Khan’s press conference had gone viral over social media, showing him criticising the foreign players who had arrived in Lahore to play the PSL Final.

The PTI chief called the foreign players “phateechar” roughly translated as “useless” adding that he does not even know their names.

In a comment which has been criticised for being racist, he said, “They just picked them from Africa.”

The PSL final was held under tight security earlier this month and drew Pakistan together in a rare show of unity. Even leaders from parties opposing the government like Jamat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed attended the final.

The final was won by Peshawar Zalmi, which was captained by West Indian cricketer Darren Sammy.

Imran Khan's main problem is his ego and lack of intellectual consistency. He used to be known as 'Im the Dim'. I mean come on, what kind of guy is called 'Im the Dim'? That wasn't a meme created in Pakistan but apparently his friends at Oxford used to call him that. I'm not saying he is corrupt or financially dishonest. He is probably neither of those two things but politically he has issues. He helped campaign against Sadiq Khan in favour of Zac Goldsmith and even Conservative Right wingers distanced themselves from the truly disgustingly Islamaphobic way that campaign was run. Sadiq Khan was smeared for being a Muslim and Imran Khan lent his support to it knowing full well how Sadiq Khan was being attacked on his faith. Remember the speech he gave after the 1992(?) World cup? It was as if he won the cup all by himself. While his team watched on in disbelief, he forgot there were nine other players there. Then fast forward to all the used up and spit out lotay he started to gather into his party to make it 'electable'. Fast forward to Dharnas. That was monumentally pointless as it had no clear end-goal apart from him being offered the seat of PM. It was the height of immaturity. This is not politics and he is not a politician. He is at heart a rabble rouser. They never do well in politics with the exception of Hitler who made a career out of it. He really should think carefully before he speaks. I still believe his heart is in the right place even if his brain isnt.

If true then these comments are so deplorable. Everyone makes mistakes and he should have realized from the first time that the public isnt buying the fact that World Cup winning players like Sammy or Samuels are "phateechar" or "relukattas". It is also ironic how he was against holding the final in Pakistan this time around due to the security situation but wants to hold the whole tournament in Pakistan during his own prospective tenure (when the security situation is unlikely to have changed much).
