The Nobel Prize was premature and meaningless as indeed it usually is. I always wondered why Wole Soyinka got the Nobel Prize in Literature...his books are torture...but that is not Obamas doing ...he did not lobby for the prize at any time....if anyone is to be blamed the Nobel Committee should be

I think after Nehru for the first time we have a government that actually seems to have long term plans.

There is a sense that corruption is much reduced. Implementation of policies seems smoother from the ground. Foreign Policy especially has become more aggressive and pragmatic. I for one was impressed by the coordination shown during the NSG hearing even though we did not get membership, there was an efficiency in the way that Indias case was put forward and countries were lobbied and in some cases isolated...an aggressiveness and coordination that India rarely shows. Same with Indias relationships with the Middle East...it has been transformative. Best of all is the firmer stand with nonsense emanating from Pakistan...finally India is repaying their favors in kind. Did you expect economic transformation in 2 years? Is that possible? Congress had 60 years to underperform....

India would have grown anyway with or without sensible government. But with sensible government, the country will be more than just an aggregate of its parts.

everything you think is 'impression'... the impression that last govt was sleeping and doing nothing and this is a proactive govt trying to something. UPA -2 in some respect was actually dysfunctional near the end, but this govt is not that far ahead from UPA-1. We got nuke deal when a 'meek' PM put his neck on the line(even against wishes of his own powerful party colleagues). It was nothing short of coup and NSG thing pales in comparison.
Congress govt was never soft on pakistan, again its just impression. It was full of hawks(and doves) just like the current govt. NK Narayan the NSA was a well known hawk then, but people wont know because he is not Doval, he wont go around wishing death upon neighbor. Some things need to be done quietly.
Compared to Narasimha Rao, Vajpayee or even MMS, Modi has nothing much to show on foreign policy front. Apart from trying for photo op in every gathering.
I guess this is new way of doing politics, you need to tell everybody that you mean business, you are muscular. You need to be a Duterte or Trump.

Dude, at the end of the day UPA 1and 2 and most of the governments before that were all hereditary feudal monarchies. A hereditary monarchy is never a preferred or modern form of government. The seeds of their demise are inherent in the system.

If nothing else you got admire the fact that the current son of a gun is a low caste, poor chai walla with no family connections. Had he been African American he probably would have got a Nobel prize!

that is a fair criticism of congress... i dont like hereditary politics... and congress is an extreme form of that..
