IMF revises up Pakistan's 2016/2017 growth forecast to 5 percent

Dont mistake Zardari and Nawaz corruption with those of indian ones, they are corrupt on a whole new level and in addition to that they niether have the vision or ability to lead a country of 200 million.
Army is never going to take charge again, they have finally understood that world dont appreciate dealing with dictators, But they are needed for the forseable future to keep a check on corrupt politicians as you can see from Karachi operations with with so many billions bieng recovered and politicians fleeing abroad.
The chinese would never have commited 46 billion if thier was no assurance from the army.
Never in a million years

This is complete uninformed statement in regards to the history of Pakistan. PMLN has been the only party to have aspired for the modern model of Pakistan. Take a look at Pakistan. From Motorway to Dam, billion-dollars energy projects have been invested in the short period of PMLN in the history of Pakistan. Then, there is Metro buses expanded, Metro Rail is being constructed, CPEC, Pakistan-Russia unlikely friendly relationship, and PMLN has already unveiled its future plans for Karachi as the situation gets improved hence Zarb-e-Azb mission approved by PMLN to eradicate terrorism on massive scale and expanded to Karachi to eradicate criminal activity against MQM. While people give credit to General Raheel, Nawaz Sharif has old enmity with Altaf Hussain and was so close to finish MQM before Musharraf came in through Marshall Law and sheltered MQM and allowed TTP to grow in Pakistan.

If there is anything positive or modern outlook about Pakistan, that is because of PMLN. If PMLN's future vision, Kalabhag dam, was approved in 90s, Pakistan would have been in better position by now. The only reason PMLN short-lived in its three terms (2 years at first, 2.5 later) and the dream of modern Pakistan was left incomplete because of constant takeover by Marshall Law and certain political parties like PPP, ANP, PTI (Chairman Khattak) were against the future vision of Pakistan constantly and even today, they are still threat to the stability, progression and future vision of Pakistan. They almost pulled it through the coordination with the Dharna and attempted military takeover. It appears they learn nothing from the history.

PMLN needs full support from the civilians. There is no better than PMLN at this moment.

Agree with everything you have said here.

isn't pakistan economy equals China investments.
This is very dangerous. China can pull the plug anytime whenever they want.

.
That (7%) cannot be sustained without a massive increase in investment rate.
An estimated 2% of our growth rate is held down by electricity shortage; Pakistan also loses around 2-5 billion dollars a year fighting terrorism - these issues will be most likely taken care of by 2018; the most short-term option for a rapid increase in growth rate is regulating our economy, Pakistan has a 37% undocumented economy.

Well according to this forecast - current Chinese Investment only controls 0.3% of our Growth Rate.

That 2% rebound on top (if true) is not sustainable just by improving the electricity situation (it may give a short push for a few years but certainly not longer than 5 years or so and I doubt it would be 2% in value since that will require a lot of data crunching on what)

Long term 6-7% foundation growth (which can then be augmented by various other policies and reforms )needs a much higher investment rate...PERIOD. This is how every country in the developing world has done it, money you invest now in cold hard physical assets (roads, schools, bridges, canals, irrigation, hospitals, factories, mines, office buildings, real estate, human capital etc etc) is what translates into sustained growth momentum.

This investment rate in Pakistan is just simply too low and feeble to get the rate of 6-7% in a sustained long term way....unless Pakistan can defy basic economic maths.

* military has understood......and has become cleverer and nuanaced. Instead of putting ramboloons such as musharaf and zia, now they put softshelled ones who dictate from the rear. See how clever the current coup has been ...that only makes them even more dangerous as now they have better understood media management, are able to better control the mullahs and are lot more discreet about land grabs
Our economic growth were always highest during Military rule. At times reaching 11% - Military rule is efficient and fast-paced; you have little political opposition to face - thus getting the work done much faster. Unlike the Government the Military is not corrupt and strives for the better of Pakistan.

Our media is very independant, most 'Mullahs' are very patriotic and there are little cases of 'land grabs',

You scream towards the end that you have to get rid of terrorism to grow yet bury you head in the sand pile and repeat the nonsense about someone from outside causing it! The large chunk of your madrassah, numerous lashkars and the history of innumerable suicide bombers clearly prove your terrorism is your own Frankenstein monster. Face it lest fail for it!

India ranks about the same as Pakistan when it comes to the Terrorism Index and Lashkars are a main component of the fight against terrorist. Suicide bombings have also significantly decreased.

There is irrefutable evidence that the economy is doing better and will only improve further once the electricity shortages start to abide.

My biggest fear with Pakistan in recent years has been the inclination of opposition parties to seek an overthrow of existing government. Stability is one of the biggest driving forces for growth and is something needed to sustain growth.

Whether you like the current government or not, you have to let it finish it's term in a stable manner. That is the only way this growth will remain consistent.

This is my biggest fear. Instability has and still is our biggest weakness. Everyone wants their shot at glory. Certainly protest, use scandals and corruption allegations in election campaigns, but for goodness sake do not shut down the country and think you are doing some favour to it. The whole world just thinks you'r country is a circus.

.
Protests are because of government corruption (plenty of corruption so plenty of protest). I dont forsee the government being overthrown either so economy will continue to stabilize even with the corrupt regime in power. The biggest problem is the debt burden they are piling on the country.

I 100% agree with you on bold part , What we need in Pakistan most are good and strong Institutions , let all political parties do what they are doing , For me they are coming naked in front of nation , Look around you now people talk about LNG , corruption , Police and this and that .
I think in next 5 years Pakistani Nation will be fully change and if we have to have a national GOVT 2023 will be the best time for that.
Thank you all

.
The next five years of PMLN government would in likelihood hood touch the 7% economic growth rate.

.
In any country faster sustainable growth can only occur in a climate where the inflation monster is tamed. last year inflation in Pakistan was equal to growth rate hence a 0% growth financially. Seeing the development potential in Pakistan in all sectors they need to grow at 8-9% assuming moderate inflation rate of around 4-5% only then the money will remain in peoples pocket this will create further demand thus fueling more growth

Yes!
Remember what I used to say during the turbulent times of Imran Khan 2014 Dharnas: Political instability is the mother of all corruption and that I'd rather have a little corrupt govt completing it's term than a wish for a revolution?
Pakistan is on right track since the fall of the previous Zardari govt.

Bolded part. Absolutely. Discourse is the foundation of political evolution.
On a related note, my family in Karachi--almost all MQM supporters-- were quite suspicious of Nawaz Sharif in 2013. To them he was all about Punjab. I disagreed with them then and told them that NS would be better for Pakistan and for Karachi, especially when compared with the Zardari govt. Similarly, my family was all for Imran Khan's so-called 'revolution' around the Dharnas in 2014 but I was strongly opposed to the Dharnas. Now even my family members reluctantly agree that NS has at least restored some semblance of peace in Karachi.

PS. Sometimes, looking from the 'outside', gives us expats give a good insight. And I am no 'ABCD'--I have lived half my life in Pakistan and gone through university education there but also have another perspective being in America for so long. Not bragging though.

My biggest fear with Pakistan is that more money will lead to more corruption and centralising of money in the hands of few; who will then exploit the masses.

This 4.7 or 5% can easily be 7% if corruption is controlled and there is more wider distribution of money in the society.
