Where is the esteemed tomato economist who said pakistan wont go to IMF?

it was all bs! imf is a necessary evil right now people are naive for thinking that we wont have to go to imf for bailout i am just hoping we use the funds smartly and jump start economy and become self sufficient! a tough task!

As soon as Pakistan's commitments in Afghanistan are settled in preventing any future attacks on USA, the sooner its economy will be rescued.

IMF is only for BoP(not that we really needed it, it's just that other institutions are now more willing to lend us now), rest you get it from other institutions like World bank etc.



Did any one say we weren't going to IMF? I mean gov, did finalized that it's going to IMF in nov-dec, 80% of negotiations are done 20% are getting resolved.

Will boast credit ratung making it easier i.e cheaper to roll over loans

Having said that everyone knows that after fnalzing 12+b of direct injection and 6+ billoof oil deferred payments Pakistan has no financing needs ..this means we dont need to go to IMF but rolling over past loans will be expensive if we dont ...boasting credit rating in short term is impossible without IMF

Sir PTI needs to tell people that its just extending IMF loan..we will not get any new money..we already have 6.4b $ loan from IMF which is maximum normal limit for member countries like Pakistan

So its a loan by IMF to Pakistan at Pakistan Terms and its not a fresh loan also (its just renewal of old one, as per another member).

Pakistan is a great negotiator.

We need the money for defense deals in work. Russians are not willing to offer loans for the whole amount so we need to cough up some money up front.

For which deals are you making the down payment to Russians?

Conditions are already complied with....Geo-strategic vis a vis Afghanistan and economics wise a) Increase in utility prices b) Devaluation more then 20% c) PSDP cut d) Increase in Interest rate by more then 400bps ..What else do IMF demands?

Russians are willing to sell lots of stuff (Air defence system, tanks, aircrafts, helicopters, etc) but they don’t want to finance anything. We can’t finalize any deal until cash in hand.
