Well our founding father Soekarno once had his interest to unite both country, but it's not happened because in reality it is impossible since we are completely be a different nation.
And since we both 'hate' each other
As for common market we already do it in Asean with other Asean members and it's not only in economy but also in other sectors.

Hate is a strong word. Why do u hate each other. I have found both Malaysian and Indonesian to be very mild people. Never thought they could hate !!!

It's natural to hate your neighbor.
Just like Korea-Japan, India-Pakistan, Greece-Turkey, Brazil-Argentina.
I said 'hate' is not mean we both take it seriously, it's just a normal neighbor rivalry.
Moreover we have very strong ties in every aspects with them. So just take it easy.

I have been preparing it.

As Indonesian film industry, I would say Indonesia along with Thailand and Philippines have the pole position in south east Asia.
Personally I must say Thai is the better between three of us, but from 2000s until now our film industry has improved a lot, for instance Ada Apa Dengan Cinta, Laskar Pelangi and The Raid. But our film industry still have long way to go to be the king in our soil.
Our weakness is lack of good will from the government to support the ecosystem, not to mention we also lack of decent producer and production house. And to be honest our audience demand in horror genre made our industry a bit stuck.

Our soap opera or we call it Sinetron is one of the most important business in Indonesia.
Many of our celebrity grew, played and got their fortune there.
Best sinetron will be broadcasted in major TV stations in the prime time and certainly it has the best rating of all.

It's like Hindi vs Urdu
It's like why Pakistan and Afghanistan is not one country despite both are muslim
Different colonizer, different way to achieve independence resulting different ideology and different mindset.
Indonesia achieved our independence by bloody war, malaysia achieved their independence by diplomacy and a lot of compromy thus better start for malaysia as a lot of british-build infrastructures are in good condition.
Indonesia is republic, Malaysia is Monarchy, Malaysia Malay still pretty much follow their sultans and think their world and culture will colaps without sultan, Indonesian in other hand, can live without a king/sultan, we are more egalitarian.
